About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team project conducting research to better understand mental health: how it is perceived, diagnosed, treated and ultimately insured. 

 

You will be a "self-starter", able to independently carry out desk-based research in an insurance setting. You will be able to think on your feet and respond quickly to instructions. You will be a skilled communicator, dealing with internal colleagues and external experts across the globe, as you work towards your goals. You will be excellent at connecting to people, forming working collaborations and working as part of a team. You will be a proactive driver of your projects with excellent time management. You will have knowledge of the psychology of mental health. You have a passion for commercialisation of your insights, and an interest in improving access to insurance.

 

You will start with a literature review of global mental health trends, with a focus on China and European markets – from aetiology and diagnosis to the treatment and prognosis of mental illnesses. You will be integral to our market research work, communicating with colleagues, partners and external mental health experts.

 

You will use your quantitative and qualitative experience to analyse our consumer knowledge study, and plan for the next phase of our research.

 

You will write reports and give presentations on your work to senior internal stakeholders and contribute to a new generation of mental health insurance products.

 

Additionally, you will support our market-leading thought leadership. You will write blogs and papers on key mental health topics, contributing to our internal social media and client communications. Following feedback on your articles, you will design a future communications pipeline around topics for mental health.

 

Your five key accountabilities will be:

  • Producing a literature review on mental health
  • Developing our market research
  • Writing a research report
  • Presenting research results to stakeholders
  • Formulating our communications pipeline

 

About the Team:

The Life & Behaviour R&D team has a global responsibility for the production and application of research in support of life & health business within Swiss Re. We are an international multidisciplinary research team, who work on a broad range of topics such as behavioural science, longevity, advancement in medicines & technology.

 

About You:

  • BA/BSc in Behavioural science, Psychology, Epidemiology, Public Health or Health Economics. Advanced degrees (MD, MSc, PhD) preferred.
  • Excellent writing, speaking and presentation skills (incl. PowerPoint), in English.
  • Knowledge of Japanese or Korean language skills and familiarity with healthcare system would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong IT skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisational, design, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence working with internal and external experts at all levels.
  • Experience in handling, prioritising and time management of multiple tasks.

 

Interns@SwissRe is 10 week summer placements from end of June to August 2020.
