About the Role

 

Pricing for core L&H business in Latin America with a particular emphasis on business written in the Mexico, Central America and Caribbean regions.

 

Actuarial support to the team in charge of product development in Latin America.

 

The opportunity

Swiss Re is looking for a junior actuary to work in a dynamic team focussing on pricing business written in the Mexico, Central America and Caribbean regions. The position requires significant collaboration within the organisation with other actuaries, underwriters and support functions, locally and abroad.  

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative and custom solutions aimed at specific client needs.
  • Support the development and execution of the team’s strategy.
  • Actuarial analysis and pricing of traditional L&H business, build models, and provide analytic support throughout the deal.
  • Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders and managing timetables and file documentations.
  • Monitor the performance of the portfolios and improving governance standards.
  • Design and develop of new L&H insurance products.
  • Review/monitor the profitability of business lines and recommend actions as necessary (products, pricing basis, etc.).
  • Actuarial support for the Latin America Life & Health (L&H) business unit including development of Terms of Trade and actuarial best practice processes and tools.
  • Develop business acumen in order to become a source of technical knowledge and advice in the region.
  • Develop strong relationships with global functions to transfer knowledge and expertise into Latin America.
  • Develop client presentations.

 

About you

  • Qualified actuary or in course of graduation.
  • Solid foundation in technical actuarial principles.
  • A good understanding of GAAP, EVM and also capital solutions would be a plus.
  • Initial experience in pricing/monitoring a range of life and health products,
  • Able to anticipate problems. proactive problem solving approach.
  • Excellent communicator in English
  • Able to present ideas and difficult concepts accordingly.
  • Good team player with drive to improve internal operation.
  • Expert user of MS Excel (knowledge of VBA and SAS are advantages).
