About the role

The Global Food & Agriculture unit has the global mandate to develop, originate, structure and sell risk transfer solutions for corporations active across the agricultural supply chain. It also distributes insurance products to farmers through non-insurance aggregators, knowledge in direct insurance is needed.

The unit's clients are mainly input suppliers, farming operations, cooperatives, logistics and trading companies, raw material processors, banks and other financial institutions as well as governments.

The business has grown substantially in the last few years and in order to sustain further growth, we are looking for a Mexico City-based Senior Originator with an excellent knowledge of the Food & Agricultural business and relevant client contacts, with knowledge in direct insurance.

As a Mexico based Senior Originator for the Food & Agriculture Business you will take care of existing business relationships and will further develop new business in the country. Additionally, you will represent Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in conferences and client events.

Furthermore you will engage with underwriters and other internal stakeholders.

 

Main tasks/activities:

  • Origination and sales of Food & Agricultural risk transfer solutions with corporations and other non-insurance stakeholders within the agricultural sector
  • Client relationship activities with existing clients
  • Represent SwissRe Corporate Solutions at conferences, senior client meetings
  • Work with cross functional internal stakeholders in developing and evolving the business. Analyze and communicate market developments including advising on market strategies.
  • Interaction with other parties:
  • Internally: Key Account Executives, originators of neighboring areas within the Environmental & Commodity Market department and support functions such as legal, accounting and tax in the region and HQ's
  • Externally: Insurance distribution channels, corporate clients, farm associations, financial service providers, statistics offices/data providers.

 

About you    

  • University degree in Natural Sciences/Agronomy or possibly economics or risk management
  • Additional education in international trade management is an advantage
  • Good knowledge and understanding of soft commodity hedging strategies
  • At least 10 years of experience in the international
  • Agri-business (trading, logistics, banking, insurance or other services to the agricultural supply chain)
  • Have proven track record of deal closing and market development in the Mexico
  • High level networks/contacts in Food & Agricultural business is critical
  • Passion for the international soft commodity trade market, agriculture insurance
  • Team spirit and strong sales and commercial drive
  • Ability to work independently with entrepreneurial mindset
  • Willing to travel at least 50%
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong capabilities to work under pressure
  • Fluent in English and local languages.
  • Having a good understanding in statistics
