About the Role

We are seeking an Underwriting Rules Specialist who will be a member of the Magnum Centre of Competence core rules team. You will be instrumental in evolving our Core Underwriting Rules and bringing our world leading risk philosophy to clients.

Your role will involve design, specification, development, testing and production of automated underwriting rules, enabling the regional Magnum implementation teams.

This is an exciting time with Magnum as we are experiencing significant new client activity and continue to deliver the next generation version of the product and market leading Underwriting capabilities.

 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Producing clear specification documents, implementing Automated Underwriting Rules, building and executing unit and scenario tests.
  • You will identify, analyze and interpret key information relevant to underwriting of life and health products to build optimal standard practice Automated Underwriting Rules.
  • Working to tight time-lines and within defined processes. The ability to analyze data and underwriting outcomes to improve rule performance will compliment your core responsibilities.
  • Working effectively in a matrix organization with team members and stakeholders across the globe

 

About You

  • Direct insurance or reinsurance (Life and Health) experience of 5 to 10 years. Experience working with automated underwriting systems, automated rule writing and testing is advantageous.
  • Strong Analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Industry recognized underwriting courses and designations preferred.
  • Experience in medical records review preferred.
  • Well-developed decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. Familiarity with Business Analysis tools or Process Engineering including RPA a plus.
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in written & verbal English and Spanish. Other foreign languages will be an added advantage.
  • Influencing skills and the capability to persuade without causing conflict.
  • Proven capability to work in a team & to work autonomously.
  • Ability to build rapport & maintain positive relationships with the team, market underwriters and other important partners.
  • Expertise in MS office, especially in Excel and Visio skills.
  • Ability to work to defined processes and guidelines and help develop and improve those processes
