About The Team:

Our team has extensive knowledge of the local market and works closely with clients to provide tailored insurance and reinsurance solutions. The team is made up of professionals with financial and underwriting expertise and a wealth of experience in the Executive Risks insurance sector. Together with our teams in Zurich, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Bogota, and Miami we ensure that our clients can access our global network of experts when required.


About The Role:

We are looking for a pro-active, highly motivated and result oriented Underwriter to join the Executive Risks (D&O) team within Corporate Solutions.

This is an underwriting position for someone with 3-5 years of experience and established broker connections in the Latin American D&O market. The core focus is on contributing to the result-oriented underwriting of Directors and Officers Liability transactions as a (primary and excess) reinsurer and to substantially and profitably grow the Latin American D&O book of business.

Your main tasks will be provide support to the senior underwriter in renew existing portfolio, support doing underwriting process of complex accounts and generate new business opportunities by leveraging reinsurance broker contacts, analyzing, and assessing the technical insurability in respect of exposures and coverages, reviewing cover structures, wordings and proposals, and preparing quotations.

You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the client’s requirements and expectations and to participate in discussions and negotiations with Re-Brokers, existing and new Clients.

As a Financial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for the in-depth underwriting analysis of each contract to be quoted. This includes gathering and evaluating data, analyzing accounts’ loss history and risk quality, and proposing changes to the wording, terms, and conditions of (re)insurance contracts.

You will actively participate in discussions about costed loss ratio, reserving loss ratio, IBNRs, pricing-tool adequacies, underwriting process, among others.

Furthermore, you may contribute to project work, work in international deal teams, and accept special assignments as required


About You:

    • Educational/Professional
      • University graduate with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance/accounting/economics and with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in the insurance/reinsurance in Latin America focused on Executive Risks (D&O) as Underwriter; other Financial Lines products experiences will be a differentiator.
      • Experience as reinsurance broker in Latin America can also be a differentiator.
      • Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial data
      • Fluent in Spanish and English. Desirable Portuguese
      • Network of Latin America D&O Brokers and Clients (focused on facultative placements)
