About the Team

Reporting to the Head Tax Latin America, and working as an integral part of a genuine global tax team, this position will be the primary point of contact for Mexican tax matters, especially overviewing the local tax team for: (a) tax compliance work: reviewing the calculation of local taxes, tax accounting, tax payments, tax reporting (mainly Mexican GAAP and USGAAP), issuing invoices, etc; (b) discuss and analyse Transfer Pricing tax matters; and (c) providing ad-hoc and tailored business advisory to the local customers, which includes local CFO, CEOs and Business Heads related to Mexican tax matters.

Secondly, the position will also serve as a supporting function to the wider Regional/LatAm and Global tax projects, be involved in Tax IT automated solutions, and strategic tax and finance initiatives across the world.

The person will be the in-ground direct technical reviewer for the tax work of 2 people, responsible for around 8 legal entities, plus will be a valuable team-member of the broader Finance team, with a dotted line to the local CFO.

About the Role:

§ Assist Group Tax, Finance, HR, Legal and Business/Operations teams in relation to tax matters,

§ Main local point of contact and lead discussions with internal (local C-Suite; Finance team, Business teams) and external stakeholders: Local Tax authorities, External Regulators, External auditors & Tax Consulting firms; external legal counsels.

§ Tax compliance and reporting: reviewing the preparation of tax packages, with tax reconciliation notes, journal entries, calculation of effective tax rates, tax reporting notes for financial statements (local and USGAAP) including FIN48/FAS5 tax accounting; tax returns, tax payments and invoices.

§ Liaise with external stakeholders and lead discussions, local filings and direct correspondence with local tax authorities.

§ Identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies in tax procedures and routines: eg. Tax IT automation, improvement of data quality, tax reporting systems

§ Maintenance of good track record of tax documents and repositories

§ Tax consulting for new products, contracts and act as an ad-hoc tax advisor

§ Preparation of supporting documents, litigation and responses to tax enquiries

* Work with the business on tax planning initiatives

§ Contribute to Swiss Re Group Tax or Business ad-hoc projects, where needed

About you:

§ Bachelor's degree in Law or Accounting (preferable), Business Administration, Economics or related fields also accepted. Post-graduation degrees desirable, but not mandatory. Mexican CPA a plus.

§ Native Spanish. English proficiency required.

§ Minimum 5 years of experience in Tax accounting or Tax Advisory, either in Big4 firms, law firms or in-house re/insurance tax departments.

§ Knowledge of Transfer Pricing and tax treatment of international payments/receipts;

§ Excellent skills of MS Office tools; Power BI a plus

§ Experience with Project Management (PMO) highly desirable

§ Experience with Finance or Tax IT systems and projects is desirable

§ Experience with (Re)insurance tax matters is a plus.
