About the Role
 
The role of Underwriting Assistant supports our Casualty Underwriting team in the handling of insurance business for our corporate customers and their brokers in the Italian market. Duties and responsibilities directly impact productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability and accuracy of the underwriting process as well as the service delivery to customers and brokers. This position may require occasional travel for business meetings or training.
 
Your main tasks will include the following:

 

•    Support of underwriters on the end-to-end process
•    Actively contributing to the Operations team spirit and also to Casualty growth portfolio
•    Accountable to deliver timely and accurate business processing also during peak times
•    Ability to provide administrative and technical support for the Casualty business unit
•    Ability to adapt fast growth, change and demand
•    Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural environment
•    Project involvement

 

 Responsibilities:


•    Enter and maintain information in systems and tools, including documents, process changes and associated open/completed tasks
•    Prepare international program structure in cooperation with the underwriters
•    Regularly interaction with external customers (brokers/insureds)
•    Prepare policies, certificates and all other contractual documentation
•    Collaborate on the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, system and tool improvements, and testing/ piloting changes
•    High level of interaction and coordination with team members
•    Conduct initial deal analysis and prepare applicable account data
•    Support underwriters in organizing and preparing data for client meetings, and also participate to the meeting
•    Compile, sort, review and verify data accuracy using source documents, detect errors, and initiate correction while following-up with customer or process owner regarding any inconsistencies found.
•    Perform assigned rule-based tasks following standard operating procedures

 

About the Team

 

In EMEA Operations we provide support to the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo) Underwriting Teams in handling insurance and reinsurance business for corporations and/or their captives.
 
You will be joining the local Italian team based in Milan, having a variety of proficiencies, skills and experience, all committed to bring success to Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. In the role of Underwriting Assistant, you will work closely with the EMEA Operations teams in centralized and offshore locations as well as your peers in other EMEA locations.

 

About You
 
Technical Competencies:
 
•    Ability to easily interpret the terms and conditions of the insurance legal document
•    Ability to adapt to changes in tasks and priorities, to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
•    Ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data following established processes and procedures
•    Demonstrate profound computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Package (Special focus on Excel)
•    Demonstrate competency in accounting principles
•    Ability to identify and report problems or errors while working with significant amounts of detailed information
•    Applies knowledge to technical and processing tasks through daily activities and responsibilities

 

 Education:
 •    Bachelor's Degree/Master's degree

 

Relevant professional experience:

•    Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant Casualty insurance experience required.
 
Linguistics:

•    Excellent communication skills (reading, written and verbal) in Italian is a must
•    Fully proficient in English
