      About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated and result oriented Engineering Underwriter, who will be accountable to steadily improve the understanding of the Engineering business, clients, markets, competitors in India as well as International business.

Accountabilities:

• Support SR underwriters in largely India, Asia and Middle East to enable them grow economic profit CM3 (& CMR) by providing analytical support on pre-underwriting and administrative support on post underwriting activities.
• Acquire knowledge on Engineering treaty and facultative business.
• Co-operate and co-ordinate with Client Management in the respective markets (CM)
• Analyse specific requests from clients in India and deliver a recommendation to the underwriters on engineering treaty and facultative business
• Proactively advise the claims team on the coverage aspects of claims (main driver remains with claims management)
• Contribute to and exchanges knowledge within the Engineering UWg community
• Support the engineering underwriter responsible for the market for deal-teams solutions
• Carry out assessment of the exposure, input pricing data in the system, submit pre-underwriting note to the Engineering underwriters for their review
• On finalisation of the business by the market underwriter, complete the post underwriting activities in the system
• Know general aspects of the world-wide Engineering market and its development
• Add specialist know-how value to the client and client teams in India
• Collaborate in project teams
• Do required reporting in Swiss Re (SRe) system, e.g. PER
• Prepare technical presentations for the underwriters
• Coach and train SR employees (on the job and in training courses)
• Keep up-to-date on market development by internal and external networking
• Keep Engineering files (wordings, risk assessment, UWg, publications etc.) up-date
• Maintain his/ her know how in area of expertise up to date and actively co-operates in knowledge exchange (eg knowledge networks)

About You

• Candidates with Bachelor's or Master's in Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical from Government College or from elite Private Institutions would be preferred with honours   grade and
•  Minimum three (3) years of relevant working experience in the engineering industry in construction or manufacturing .
• Master's degree in Business Administration/ CFA  from National Insurance Academy or any equivalent institute specialized in (Re)Insurance will be an added advantage
• Entrepreneurial mindset (sense of urgency, cost consciousness and personal risk taking), committed to sustainable performance and continuous improvement
• organizational/project management skills, ability to manage peak period workloads
• Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate in a team environment
• Comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to change
• Creative thinking capability and a problem-solving attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English language
• Open to relocate anywhere in India and overseas. The individual should be flexible to cater to the time zones of different markets in Asia/ Europe.
