About the role
This role combines business origination, client management and Property Facultative Underwriting skills to develop and foster client relations across all executive and management levels and build a profitable, sustainable portfolio in line with Swiss Re long term portfolio strategy for India Facultative business.
Key responsibilities may include
- End-to-end underwriting of core Property business including risk selection, costing, contracts review and structuring, incorporating relevant technologies or tools (AI / CatNat) to make informed decisions
- Grow the core business by building strong relationships with existing clients and partners and develop new opportunities by understanding the client's requirement and leveraging on Swiss Re strength areas.
- Responsible for delivering quantifiable targets (in terms of Premium written, targeted combine ratio and actual profits) Collaborating with colleagues and underwriters in the region and in Bangalore (Swiss Re GBS) to ensure accurate and time-bound response to our clients and partners
- Flexible to travel for business purpose

About You
You have strong Property underwriting, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills. You have proven experience of client management skills i.e. building and developing relationships with clients and brokers and generating larger wallet share out of their portfolio.
- Post graduate University degree
- Minimum of 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in insurance/reinsurance underwriting, portfolio and/or client management
- Proficient in the English language
- Having prior property underwriting/risk analysis experience
- Familiarity with NATCAT, FLEXA risks and MPL concepts
- Strong quantitative/analytical skills, underwriting judgement and experience with risk selection/evaluation as well as a flair for policy wording analysis
- Consultancy skills (listen, ask right questions and "connect the dots"), coupled with financial acumen and relevant corporate finance knowledge
- Solid negotiation and sales skills, ability to successfully handle conflicts, at ease with leaving the comfort zone and to navigate ambiguity
- Understanding of the end-to-end (re)insurance value chain and relevant market knowledge (e.g. trends, competitors, capital markets context)
- Entrepreneurial mindset (sense of urgency, cost consciousness and personal risk taking), committed to sustainable performance and continuous improvement
- Organizational/project management skills, ability to manage peak period workload
- Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate in a team environment
