About the role
Senior Client Underwriter will focus on selecting top clients and building a portfolio that outperforms the market benchmark. A successful Senior Client Underwriter will combine world class origination, client management and Underwriting Excellence skills to develop and foster client relations across all executive and management levels.
Key responsibilities may include
- End-to-end underwriting analysis of core business including risk selection, primarily simple costing, contracts review and structuring; incorporating and improving relevant technology to make informed decisions
- Grow the core business by developing opportunities in the portfolio in collaboration with relevant specialists and driving toward the principle of "right service right client"
- Anticipate and understanding competitor products as well as industry, economic and market trends
- Collaborating with Product Underwriters on the evaluation of treaties, decisive actions within your assigned treaties to meet standards and guidelines
- Be a senior member of the Client Underwriting team for Swiss Re's P&C business in India
- Develop and maintain relationship with the senior management, reinsurance decision makers and key influencers of assigned clients
- Act as a mentor for the team in expressing Swiss Re’s value proposition, developing key accounts, executing strategy, and delivering our services

About You
You have demonstrated leadership abilities and a team builder who enjoys working in a multi-cultural team environment. You pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills and have exceptional communication and client management skills that help you build and develop relationships with clients and brokers.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance underwriting, portfolio and/or client management
- Proficient in English language
- Prior experience in treaty analysis and underwriting preferably in property business
- Familiarity with NATCAT, fire, motor, and liability costing
- Underwriting judgement and experience with risk selection/evaluation as well as a flair for wording and costing issues
- Consultancy skills (listen, ask right questions and "connect the dots"), coupled with financial acumen and relevant corporate finance knowledge
- Understanding of the end-to-end (re)insurance value chain and relevant market knowledge (e.g. trends, competitors, capital markets context)
- Entrepreneurial mindset (sense of urgency, cost consciousness and personal risk taking), committed to sustainable performance and continuous improvement
- You encourage others and promote team-work and cooperation across business units.
- You have demonstrated strategic vision, have a strong business acumen and result orientation.
- You can think out of the box, roll your sleeves up and are not afraid to take charge of a situation.
