About the Role

Claims Expert acting for and on behalf of Swiss Re Europe S.A., Niederlassung Deutschland.

In this most interesting role, you will be managing claims on behalf of Swiss Re Europe S.A., Niederlassung Deutschland. The position holder has a solid reporting line into the Head Property & Casualty Business Management Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. The claims book under responsibility consists of a wide range of claims of all lines of business with a strong focus on, but not limited to, German clients with local and global reach. You are expected to deliver on the claims mandate of your own book of business as well as the teams' wider portfolio in line with the right-service-for-right-client principle, ensuring management of client- and stakeholder relationships throughout all levels of seniority. Furthermore, you will have to evidence Thought Leadership, adequate market and Cross Functional Team representation as well as state of the art portfolio management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure state-of-the-art claims management of allocated portfolio. This includes handling of books of business on "referral"-basis in line with the current Licensing and Permanent Establishment (LPE) framework
  • Ensure execution of client service in line with "right service for right client" principles
  • Foster client relationships with particular emphasis on claims counter-parts in cedant's and broker's organisations
  • Manage relationship with stakeholder groups and support pursuit of their respective goals (Underwriting / Actuaries / Key Case Management / "Solutions" and transactional partners)
  • Ensure feedback loop on a continuous basis, particularly to Underwriting and Clients Markets community; participate in compilation of fact books and scorecards for stakeholders
  • Drive portfolio management activities aspiring to avoid negative surprises whilst identifying trends that support the feedback loop to Underwriting
  • Lead of ad-hoc initiatives
  • Ensure alignment on reinsurance market losses throughout the Swiss Re Group globally
  • Maintain representation in market bodies and expand network of industry contacts respectively, i.e. clients, attorneys, adjusters, surveyors
  • Provide guidance to Claims Operations colleagues

 

About the Team

You will be part of a team of 11 other experienced Claims Experts, based out of Munich and Copenhagen.

 

About You

  • Degree in Law, preferably as a fully qualified lawyer
  • Proven track record of minimum 5 years reinsurance / direct claims handling experience in Property & Casualty LoBs 
  • Experience in the primary insurance industry is a plus
  • Enhanced numeric literacy / analytical skills & business origination understanding
  • Pronounced inter-personal and communication skills / emotional intelligence; ability to build relationships / engaging with others, building commitment, taking a cross-functional view
  • High level of integrity
  • Self-driven entrepreneurial personality with an abundance of energy and a high level of frustration tolerance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
  • Strong "Can-Do" attitude / high degree of self-initiative
  • Seasoned personality to represent Swiss Re at clients' senior and executive management level
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Preparedness for travel, sensitivity to cultural differences
