Risk Engineer Property (Hybrid- m/f/x/d - 80-100%)
Are you an experienced engineer in the field of offshore and onshore wind energy eager to provide technical support for our renewable energy business?
About the Role
The main technical focus for the position will be on construction and operation of wind farms (offshore and onshore). In addition, experience with other types of renewable energy business such as solar (PV and/or solar thermic), any other power plants or power distribution is a plus.
Principal task of the Risk Engineering position will be to further develop and maintain know-how about renewable energy technologies to support our underwriting. For this purpose, the risk engineer will act as consultant to the construction/engineering, property and specialty underwriting community. The job also includes technological risk related R&D work, internal and external client meetings and educational trainings. Additional special tasks will be assigned based on business needs, available skills and experience.

Support underwriting and actively develop insurance related technical wind turbine knowledge and tools (on- and off-shore)

Contribute to construction and property underwriting with your knowledge and expertise (e.g. costing, risk selection, claims analysis, wording/clauses and other risk related topics).

Integrate and apply your technical knowledge related to standards and certifications into the risk framework.

Maintain and actively build up technical knowledge related to marine operations in general and specifically related to installation of cables, foundations and substations.

Actively promote Swiss Re as a leading renewable insurance carrier by providing educational trainings to internal and external partners.
About the Team
Our Reinsurance Risk Engineering Services (RES) team is responsible for providing technical support to property, engineering and specialty business, advising our underwriters on risk quality, loss estimates, capacity allocation and loss prevention measures for large accounts as well as for single risks.
RES reinsurance is a knowledge and experience driven global expert team. Every risk engineer contributes by sharing his unique expertise and knowledge on a collaborative basis to be part of our companywide integrated technical knowledge backbone.
About You
You do have profound expertise and experience in the wind offshore and onshore energy business and preferably knowledge in insurance risk engineering.
A genuine intellectual curiosity as well as your interest, willingness to further expand your knowledge in other renewable industries, and risk relevant topics, is your major driver and motivation.

5 - 10 years engineering experience in renewable energy (construction/design/operation in the wind off/on shore industry);

Profound knowledge in hazard identification and risk management topics in the industry;

Knowledge of the industry-relevant internationally recognized standards in: design/loss prevention/fire protection;

Master degree in civil or marine engineering;

Preferably experience in insurance risk engineering or claims and knowledge of underwriting processes;

Strong communication and presentation skills;

Proficiency level in English is a requirement. Other language skills would be desirable
