About the role

This is an opportunity to join the Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) team, which is a global team with members and clients around the world. This role will support the Sales and Distribution team in their regular business and strategic projects.



      • Assistance in distribution of ILS and other instruments (private deals and sidecars) to institutional investors in the Americas
      • With support from wider ILS team, aid in origination of marketing materials for sponsor meetings and calls
      • Identify and monitor capital markets trends in terms of products, price and available capacity
      • Responsible for recording and analyzing loss data/payouts for Catastrophe bonds
      • Assist in the development and implementation of Swiss Re's ILS distribution and origination strategy
      • Work closely with ILS team members on placement tactics
      • Prepare distribution pitches for new investment accounts
      • Publish periodic updates on the ILS market for investors and maintains Swiss Re's Capital Markets website

Our Alternative Capital Partners group supports Swiss Re's larger business strategy and manages Swiss Re's third-party capital activities. It combines the resources and capabilities of the Swiss Re Capital Markets ILS team and the Retro & Syndication team into a unified center of expertise. Making use of a broad range of third-party capital and retrocession instruments, Alternative Capital Partners enables Swiss Re to grow its natural catastrophe book, while proactively managing risk appetite; and similarly for other emerging peak exposures in P&C and L&H, such as extreme mortality.

The ILS Sales and Distribution team is the link between Swiss Re and institutional investors. The team markets and sellsSwiss Re structured catastrophe bonds as well as other ILS products, also participating in secondary trading, and gathering market intelligence.


About you 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field (will have completed second to last year of study prior to the start of the internship)
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus (e.g. Python, Rstudio, VBA)
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Organized self-starter with good project management skills
