About the Role

This is an opportunity to join the Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) division, which is a global team with members and clients around the world. This role will support the Structuring and Origination team in their regular business and strategic projects and will be based out of the New York City office. The team is focused on developing market insights and transaction ideas for prospective clients and designing multi-year, flexible risk transfer contracts covering natural catastrophes and life risk.

 

About Swiss Re Capital Markets

Swiss Re Capital Markets (SRCM), a leading broker-dealer in the structuring, placement and secondary trading of Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) in the capital markets. ILS includes catastrophe bonds, sidecars, synthetic solutions and many other securitization and derivative products. SRCM provides risk hedging and financing needs to a variety of clients, including re/insurers, governments and corporations, with expertise in both the property & casualty and life and health sectors. Risks transferred in ILS transactions can range from natural disasters and pandemic diseases all the way to cyber risk or terror events. Since market’s inception, SRCM has structured and syndicated more than $40 billion of ILS instruments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the origination, pricing, structuring and execution of ILS transactions for SRCM clients
  • Develop client materials for new transaction opportunities and prepare presentations for investor discussions
  • Join a cross functional team of investment bankers that works closely risk modelers, rating agencies and legal firms during the execution of ILS transactions
  • Analyze and research the exposures of SRCM clients (sovereign nations, corporations and (re)insurers)
  • Contribute to the research and innovation related to transferring emerging perils and new structural solutions
  • Perform in an empowering and fast-paced international environment

 

About You

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact with clients professionally and make a good impression
  • Strong team player
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience required
  • Understanding of ILS or reinsurance market dynamics not required but a plus
  • Senior graduating in May 2023 with a bachelor's degree with significant emphasis in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or similar analytical discipline with a strong record of achievement required
