Weather & Energy Structurer (Hybrid- remote & in-office)

About the role
This is a P&L generating role where You would assume structuring and underwriting duties along with other deal process-related responsibilities by:
- understanding client motivation and rationale and develop solutions to meet their needs
- identifying transaction risks and their drivers and coordinate with Underwriting, legal, risk teams in pricing and transaction related approvals
- analyzing underlying data along with other ancillary data and/or information such as market intelligence reports, market trends and establishing forward looking views
- coordinate, review and assist in drafting transaction documents and engage in negotiation with clients
You would work hand in hand with other structuring and underwriting colleagues and being in the loop of all client and market discussions by:
- regularly participating in client meetings or calls
- giving structural advice or new ideas to support sales arguments
- providing quotes timely and within deadlines
- developing new product solution to meet client's need
About the team
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is a global leader in the Weather & Energy Commodity risk transfer solutions. The Environmental & Commodity Markets team (ECM) offers a wide range of solution for weather risk, energy market risk (such as power & gas), and power plant outage risk solutions in both insurance and derivatives form. Our clients include power and gas utilities, retailers, independent power producers (IPPs), renewables, banks, and other energy industry sectors.
The Global Structuring & Pricing Desk of ECM structures and prices weather and weather/outage contingent commodity price products which includes analysis of weather and outage data, costing and pricing of inquiries, setting up and further developing pricing models as well as supporting the structuring team by providing product structuring skills for new business.
About You
You hold a University degree in Mathematics or Statistics, with a few years of professional experience in power trading and/or structuring and pricing of derivative/insurance contracts; ideally with counterparties in the weather/power & gas market.
Furthermore you can offer:
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Team player personality with strong communication skills
- Ability to manage time and prioritize in order to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Willingness to expend extra efforts to cover seasonal peak workloads with very short response times
- Business sense and desire to succeed in a profit-orientated environment
- Sound and consistent decision-making skills
- Creative and open to new solutions
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); proficient in Spanish can be an advantage
For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $128,000 to $225,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
