About the role:

 

P&C Solutions is one of the three pillars within Swiss Re Reinsurance. The pillar seeks to add value to clients’ original business by providing solutions and services across the value chain. Our clients' needs are at the heart of what we do, as we make sure that our solutions and services help our clients grow and make commercial sense.

It is within the mandate of the team to be at the forefront of analytics understanding by driving the development of novel solutions through the combination of risk knowledge and data science capabilities.

 

We are seeking an ambitious individual in Paris with a real passion for analytics and technology to join our highly skilled team.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Support risk consulting throughout the insurance value chain for Swiss Re's clients (e.g.: go-to-market strategies, risk assessments, risk dashboards etc.)
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to support and consult our clients on their key priorities and business problems
  • Built and refine algorithmic solutions (e.g. using Machine Learning or Actuarial Modelling) in quantitative problem settings
  • Scout, prepare, and curate datasets for analysis
  • Conduct research, surveys and interviews to gain understanding of specific insurance markets and businesses
  • Compile and present information verbally, visually and in writing, conveying technical and complex concepts to less technical audiences
  • Work hand-in-hand with senior consultants, software specialists, and other internal Swiss Re teams

 

About the team:

 

You will work with colleagues with a diverse group of backgrounds from various countries across different locations who deliver our analytics offering to our clients worldwide.

Organizationally, you will report into the P&C Solutions central team in Zürich but be part of a wider Solutions community with relationships in EMEA and globally.

 

About you:

 

  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in Engineering, Natural Science, or Economics with training in quantitative methods
  • Hands-on analytics experience using python, R, or similar tools
  • Strong interest to learn about insurance/reinsurance
  • Analytical problem-solving skills, can-do attitude and ability to assimilate complex information.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets and applying analytical methods
  • Ideally some commercial experience (as intern, working student, or summer job)
  • Proficiency in English. Other languages are a plus.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally (ability to work in a global and multi-cultural environment and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location)
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven expertise to work independently and proactively
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Strong communication skills, ability to present ideas and express yourself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
