Underwriting Assistant - Credit & Surety

 

About the Job:

 

Assist in underwriting contract surety accounts in conformance with SRCS Surety underwriting guidelines by performing underwriting file set-up and maintenance. Underwriting assistance can include but is not limited to pulling credit reports on company and owners and evaluating credit worthiness, opening new accounts, updating existing accounts and preserving all pertinent documentation, and performing preliminary analysis and evaluation of financial information for underwriter review.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  1. Update CUA/Imaging with current underwriting information for new & existing accounts.
  2. Enter financial information into CUA including preliminary "as allowed" analysis.
  3. Analyze and evaluate new and existing accounts and advise on potential issues/red flags and/or positive attributes to the accounts.
  4. Pull both personal credit and corporate credit reports as needed/requested.
  5. Set up new accounts in CUA.
  6. Prepare/review GIA's and/or subordination agreements upon request for 2underwriter or agents.
  7. Prepare and maintain bid log with results as received.
  8. Maintain current documentation and credit information files in accordance with the SRCS Surety Group Procedure Manual for Contract Surety as requested by underwriters.
  9. Approve consent of surety for agents on final bonds where there are no outstanding claims, all subs and suppliers have been paid and no lingering issues remain on the job.
  10. Participate in special projects and provide custom reports as delegated by the Regional/Branch Manager.

 

Additional Responsibilities – Agency appointment documentation and follow up, miscellaneous agent questions/concerns/problems, update bid logs for approved bids & bid results, follow up on underwriting information for year-end review and/or conditional bid approval requirements.

 

About You:

 

  1. Financial background or previous accounting experience.
  2. Some proficiency in quantitative and financial analysis.
  3. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  5. Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  6. A desire to provide best in class customer service with a positive attitude.

 

 

The role is open to our Dallas - Plano - Houston -- office locations. For roles located within our Swiss Re offices, our company has a hybrid work model where the expectations is that you will be in the office three days per week on average. 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $112,000 to $180,000. The specific salary offered for any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
