The Business Service team in Corporate Solutions is looking for a capable Underwriting Associate to be based in Sao Paulo. 

Primarily, you will be responsible to deliver the Business Services tasks and in some aspects take the lead on pre-underwriting tasks and duties.

The role involves a high degree of interaction and coordination with underwriters and other internal / external stakeholders, as well as related functions. Additional details on the key tasks are as follows:


About the Role

 Core Responsibilities:

• High level of interaction and coordination with team members; moderate level of interaction with external customers.
• Enter and maintain information in the specific systems and tools to handle the Surety line of business, as well the policy administration system.
• Create and maintain electronic records and hard copies, if required, following established guidelines and processes.
•High competency with process guidelines and applicable tools and systems.
•System and tool enhancements and testing/piloting changes.
•Responsible for generating and verifying information in predefined business reports.


Additional Responsibilities


• Conduct preliminary deal analysis and prepare applicable data for business unit supported.
• If applicable, prepare documents for issuance and review for customer approval.
• Compile, review, and verify data accuracy using source documents.                                                                                                         
• Interact with on-shore/off-shore contractors, as appropriate, to answer questions or give directions.                                                       
• Follow-up on outstanding items and documentation, per guidelines.
• Perform assigned rule-based tasks following standard operating procedures.                                                                                               
• Create business correspondence using template forms, where possible.

• Participate on projects for the business unit supported, as assigned.


About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or studying courses related to the business or legal.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant business experience required, with advanced proficiency in Surety line of business, having knowledge in the overall policy life cycle (policy issuance, endorsements, billing process, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills. Advanced English proficiency is desirable.
  • A strong team player with ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and credibility;
  • Expert ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data with a sound understanding of numbers;
  • Solutions and results oriented individual with an ability to multi-task;
  • Strong service and client orientation.
