Credit Risk Analyst

About the Role

You will be a key member of the Deal Team for Trade Finance and be responsible for:

  • Professional and profound credit risk /rating assessment and financial analysis of a diverse set of corporates.
  • Approval/recommendation of credit limits in line with internal policies and standards.
  • Evaluation of financing structures, recommendation on risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • At the request of underwriters, initial screening and vetting of single risk and portfolio obligors.
  • Monitoring of credit exposures to assess the potential impact of market events on specific counterparties or portfolios, recommendations on potential watchlist placements.
  • Contribution towards crafting data and technology driven transformation

About the Team

The Credit Product Centre is a globally distributed team with presence in Sao Paolo, Frankfurt, Munich, Bratislava, Zurich, Bangalore, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The CPC is, in general, responsible for leading C&S's key initiatives in the area of risk management and risk insights, underwriting policy and overall compliance with unit, divisional and Swiss Re Group standards.

Trade Finance provides capacity and solutions for leading Trade Finance Banks and other Financial Institutions for cross border trade transactions as well as solutions for corporate clients. This involves an international work environment with a global scope and customer base.

About You

  • 4-7 years of experience (preferably in Trade Credit Insurance / Trade Finance division of a bank or factoring company) in credit risk management function. Knowledge of corporate loans is a big plus.
  • Strong credit risk assessment skills with focus on the US market. Ability to go "beyond the financials" in enriching the credit analysis with most current economic, industry and market sentiments.
  • Ability to critically question rationales behind risk ceding applications and acquire a comprehensive view of the trade/structuring justification.
  • Proficient in financial spreading, financial projections, experience in handling of credit application documents.
  • Flexibility to be engaged in projects and work in project teams.
  • Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Spanish is ideal; French is a nice to have
  • Strong skills in Excel and MS Office

Strong plus:

  • Experience in assessing Obligors' group structures and intra-group linkages to establish credit ratings with limited financial data.
  • Profound understanding of the specific risks in the international trade and supply chain finance flows.
  • Understanding of rating municipal companies and government related non-profit organizations
  • Business degree and/or CFA / Chartered Accountant or similar qualification in finance
