About the Role


We are seeking a transformative leader to lead a team of P&C reinsurance claims professionals with broad and diverse insurance industry knowledge and claims expertise. The reinsurance claims team impacts profitability through oversight and steering of loss portfolios. The claims team provides stellar service to clients with an aim to assist our clients in achieving their goals. The team actively engages in thought leadership, including market group participation and topic presentation.


In this role, you will lead a team of reinsurance claim professionals dedicated to the Regional 2 client segment comprised of national and multinational P&C insurers. The position includes segment ownership and portfolio management for a loss portfolio with over 1B of reserves. The role strongly interacts with Client Markets, Products, Claim Operations, and Reserving. This position reports to Head Reinsurance P&C Claims, U.S.


Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Leading and empowering a virtual team;
  • Driving our strategies around loss management, trend analysis, and cross-functional engagement;
  • Managing, building and developing talent;
  • A thorough understanding of property and casualty claims and attendant contractual and legal issues;
  • Building positive business relationships with clients;
  • Building strong relationships and meaningful collaboration with internal stakeholders;
  • Accurate analysis and timely reporting of KPIs;
  • Creating an environment of risk management awareness;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, influencing skills;
  • Leading and participating on critical projects or initiatives
  • Fundamental understanding of relevant financial acumen;
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

  • Outstanding leadership and team building skills and experience;
  • Ability to develop talent and empower others to excel;
  • Demonstrated change agent and innovation driver;
  • Experience built in complex claims handling, legal knowledge and/or other relevant roles, including fundamental knowledge of claims and reserving process and insurance/reinsurance policy terms and conditions;
  • Client-centric focus;
  • Experience collaborating across functions;
  • Ability to think and act inclusively, strategically and globally;
  • Broad market and product knowledge and experience in the larger insurance industry market;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable and comfortable communicating with the highest level management in client companies and senior management at Swiss Re;
  • Confirmed ability to meet deliverables, implement plans, and conduct analysis;
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills;
  • Full understanding of relevant financial acumen and numeric literacy;
  • Flexibility for business travel (approximately 10-15%)
