Senior Treaty Underwriter - Open to a other locations in US

About the role

**Position can be considered an E Band (Assistant VP) or D Band (VP) depending on candidate's experience level**

• Through intermediaries produce, underwrite & negotiate U.S. property and casualty treaty reinsurance

• Ability to communicate & connect at all levels of client and broker up to C Suite

• Handle cradle to grave treaty production and administration process

• Cross-market Swiss Re products and services

• Professionally represent Swiss Re in the U.S. broker treaty reinsurance marketplace

• Open to other locations within US


Essential Responsibilities - 75%

• Costing experience is a plus

• Focus on broad commercial casualty background. Commercial property & personal lines background a plus

• Has an established network or capable of building a network of reinsurance broker relationships

• Actively market property and casualty broker treaty opportunities

• Cross-sell all SR products and services to reinsurance intermediaries and clients

• Assess submission data quality, interpret actuarial and economic value analysis and key deal features for assigned treaties

• Recommend treaty terms & conditions

• Coordinate and/or lead all aspects of assigned deal reviews

• Work with cross-functional underwriting, claims, actuarial & marketing teams as needed

• Negotiate deal terms and conditions with brokers and clients

• Ensure adequate process & guideline adherence

• Perform underwriting audits, client & broker visits as required

• Stay current on important insurance/reinsurance developments

Ancillary Responsibilities - 25%

• File documentation/maintenance, various system entries as required • Projects as required


About the team

The Specialty team supports niche specialists, E&S writers and MGA programs on an admitted and non-admitted basis. The team currently consists of five client managers and is primarily focused on casualty business.


About You

• University degree
• 5 or more years progressive insurance/reinsurance underwriting or broker marketing experience
• Consultative selling, solution-oriented mindset
• Excellent organization skills
• Written and oral presentation skills
• Solid math and statistics understanding
• Teamwork oriented
• Solid MS Office products skills
• ARe, CPCU designation or progress towards same is desirable.
• Broad latitude for recommendations and decision making under senior supervision
• Up to 30% travel.
