About the Role
You will be the Head Product Management for the technology platform within the iptiQ China. This is a rare opportunity to join a new business unit within an established company, combining the dynamic spirit of a startup with the backing of Swiss Re's strong organization. In this position, you will be leading an expert team and responsible for shaping the technology platform that fulfill our business and product vision and ultimately bring value to our customers and partners by managing end to end the product features, product development processes, product security and compliance to regulations. This will require working closely in multi-functional teams and seeking effective solutions for complex problems within a distributed infrastructure by designing, implementing and testing simple, scalable, reliable and configurable solutions. You will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of technology excellence, automation and digitization to further enable and accelerate iptiQ China growth ambitions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the Product Management team consisting of product designers, project managers, release manager and SMEs of software process engineering, quality assurance and security, ensuring that the functions of these positions are executed effectively

  • Oversee the development and management of the product's roadmap based on adopted strategies and vision

  • Ensure that product changes and improvements are made with a value driven approach bringing the best results for business growth

  • Collaborate with different departments and levels across the organization as well as working closely with the engineering, infrastructure, data and operational teams.

  • Proactively contribute to evolving our platform and be end-to-end responsible for all aspects of products on and connected to the platform including development processes, release management, quality assurance, security, and compliance to regulations throughout the entire product life cycle

  • Deliver a high-quality product, focusing on simplicity, performance and scalability by gathering and managing requirements for product evolution based on market analysis, regulatory requirements, business value, technology trends, best practices, as well as interactions with end users and partners

  • With your project management and technical expertise, manage the project portfolio (prioritization, resourcing, planning, etc.) for China and lead critical workstreams of strategic initiatives sponsored by senior executives

  • Mentor and train other team members and suppliers on product and project management skills and state of the art methodologies

  • Drive both technology and product innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development

  • Optimize applications and components to maximize configurability, speed and efficiency, ease of development of new features and the ability to scale business processes

  • End-to-end responsibility on the applications and products implemented, including automated testing, monitoring, identifying issues or bottlenecks and delivering improvements of the platform

 

 

About You

You Have:

  • Proven leadership/people skills and product management capabilities, i.e., 10+ years hands-on experience working in similar roles in the insurance or finance industry

  • Master’s degree in in computer science or engineering

  • Track record and experience in leading strategic and technology programs / projects and SME teams in an agile and complex environment

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrates a high level of analytical and quantitative skills, using information/data and various metrics to develop and informed business case

  • Expert level understanding of insurance business (in China a plus) and InsurTech platforms with strong knowledge of regulatory requirements

  • Good understanding of state-of-the-art technologies with experience with high-traffic micro services architectures and best practices around designing, scaling and monitoring concurrent systems (using different technologies and preferably event driven architectures and RESTful APIs)

  • Understand quality and performance metrics, how to collect and use them to continuously improve performance, scalability and efficiency

  • Experience in data driven business and preferably with track record of successful projects

  • Successful delivery experience in software engineering methodologies and processes including Agile and Waterfall

  • Good understanding of CI/CD, test-drive-development (TDD) and automated testing

  • Experience in best practices around IT security and in treatment of sensitive customer data according to GDPR, CBIRC regulatory framework etc.

  • Experience in developing and managing technology platforms for insurance business

  • You have already worked and enjoy working in an international environment

  • You have experience in working with high-speed and in a highly innovative culture

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Chinese Mandarin and English is a prerequisite
