About the Role

You will be the Software Process Engineer at iptiQ China. This is a rare opportunity to join a new business unit within an established company; combining the dynamic spirit of a startup with the backing of Swiss Re's strong organization. In this position, you will be a key contributor to architecting, designing and implementing state of the art software product development and operation processes which add values effectivity and efficiency, as well as ensuring quality of the developed software products. Initially, you will be helping us to design and implement state of the art software development processes with effectivity and efficiency by providing your experience and applying appropriate tools for automating the processes. With a focus on business needs, you will also manage the evolution of these processes for continuous improvements.

Your responsibilities

  • Be a key contributor to architecting, designing and implementing state of the art and pragmatic software product development and operation processes throughout the entire product life cycle to improve effectivity and efficiency, as well as ensuring quality

  • Apply and implement appropriate tools for achieving high degree of automation of the processes

  • Be a key contributor to all aspects and full life cycle of the processes implemented and ensure that the processes staying live by tracking process execution effectively

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of the process architecture, the processes and tools applied

  • Proactively suggest and contribute data-driven and innovative ideas and transform good ideas into solutions which can significantly add values to business, partners and customers  

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams of external and internal developers, data scientists and engineers in the development and support of new solutions

  • Be a strong promoter of value of software development and operation processes, and serve as a bridge between the various stakeholders in different functions and levels, both internal and external

  • Agile collaboration with different functions across the Swiss Re organization and with external partners, especially with the APAC regional team and the global technology teams

  • Ensure compliance of the software development and operation processes to information security, regulation, and risk management requirements


About you

You Have:

  • Master's degree in computer science, nature science, engineering or equivalent working experience

  • 10+ years software engineering experience and a passion for developing unique data driven technical solutions and services

  • 5+ years of experience in architecting, designing, implementing and maintaining state of the art software development processes, practical experience in using tools to maintain the processes like CI/CD

  • Strong experience in full scope and full life cycle software engineering including requirements management, development management, documentation management, configuration management and quality management

  • Familiar and practical experience with different process frameworks like ISO, CMMI, IEEE, PMI etc.

  • Strong understanding of software methodologies, processes including Agile / Water Fall and merits

  • Highly analytical, using data to make decisions and comfortable gathering necessary data yourself

  • Results oriented. You can cut to the core of a problem, identify what needs to be done and work with the teams to get products launched

  • Strong conceptual thinking combined with pragmatism and excellent problem-solving capabilities and an innovative mindset

  • Ability to build relationships in an international environment with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at different levels of the organization

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate (both oral and written) technical components of the processes with non-technical stakeholders and external audiences

  • An entrepreneurial attitude with ability to work in a fast paced, flexible environment and manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Hands on software architecting and coding ability and experience is a strong plus

  • Understanding of the insurance industry in China and competitive knowledge of insurance technology landscape is a strong plus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Chinese Mandarin is a prerequisite, and fluency in English is a must
