About the Role


This is a high-level Claims position, responsible for professionally handling claims with large loss severity potential, which often require litigation and vendor management.  These claims often present coverage and loss complexity, company reputational risk and require a sophisticated approach to managing issues with clients, brokers, co-insurers internal stakeholders and third parties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the highest quality claim handling and customer service consistent with the Corporate Solutions Claim Commitment and Claim Handling Expectations
  • Direct handle claims with high severity/complexity and/or Company reputational risk potential (this may include regional travel)
  • Consult on Large Loss claims handled by other CorSo Claims Handlers
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves consistent with CorSo Claims reserve timeliness expectations
  • Proactive diary management
  • Select, direct and manage external experts and vendors, including working with experts to set appropriate budgets and effectively manage costs
  • Select and manage outside attorneys, where needed, including working with attorneys to set appropriate resolution strategy and budget and proactively manage costs
  • Provide actionable Claims' insights to internal stakeholders, including studies, reviews and analysis relating to claims, emerging risks, legal, regulatory and societal developments and other industry topics
  • Assist Underwriting and others with contractual wording and risk assessments
  • Keep Claim Management and Internal Stakeholders aware of loss potential and material claim developments, consistent with Claim Handling Expectations and SoPs
  • Take leadership role in CorSo Claims roundtables
  • Regularly provide (and assist Claims Management in gathering and providing) accurate information and data for Claims' reporting
  • CorSo Claims Global Practice Group Leader, or work  closely with Corso Claims Global Practice Group Leaders, Swiss Re Group Key Case and Loss Management teams
  • Share knowledge and raise CorSo Claims profile through internal and external presentations, and by publishing articles on claims, emerging risks, legal, regulatory, societal developments and other industry topics
  • Coach, train and mentor junior Claims staff and consult on their claims
  • Assist with claim handler Quality Assurance File Reviews
  • Comply with internal governance, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Regular Claims and Insurance Industry training/education, including obtaining and maintaining applicable insurance certifications/designations
  • To identify, visit and create relationships with claims personnel of major clients in all appropriate lines of business to enhance transparency and professional claims handling
  • To remain familiar with relevant statutory laws, trends in judicial decisions and claims handling procedures in the insurance and reinsurance markets


About the Team


You will be part of the APAC Corso Claims Team, based in Singapore, in the professional management of Facultative and Direct insurance claims, in the property casulaty lines of business with an emphasis on larger property lines claims in the region. The role also emcompasses the delivery of technical assistance and feedback to stakeholders in the Region and networking with major external clients.


About You


  • Property & Casualty claims experience of at least 10 years
  • University Degree
  • Singapore Commercial General Insurance Certification- Singapore College of Insurance – minimum MAS requirement
  • Preferred with Professional insurance qualification such as ACII or better
  • Knowledge of the APAC markets and clients
  • Network of insurer and broker contacts in the region would be an added advantage
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people skills
  • Curious, energetic, confident, collaborative, proactive, analytical, problem-solver, dependable, honest and transparent
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, disciplined, agile, self-motivated, strategic and good judgment

  • Highly experienced and skilled negotiator
  • Significant experience in engaging and managing external experts and outside attorneys, including effective cost and litigation management experience
  • Strong understanding of underwriting, other insurance functions and insurance industry
  • Experienced and effective presenter
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experienced relationship builder and high emotional IQ
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion of leading and developing people
  • Claim file review/audit experience
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
