Position objectives

  • Facilitate execution of P&C structured reinsurance solutions (PCSS) in combination with cross functional teams.
  • Actively contribute, as member of cross-functional teams, to the identification and origination of P&C transaction opportunities in South East Asia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan (SID region)
  • In collaboration with Client Markets and wider client cross-functional team, show the value of P&C structured solutions to our clients, through compelling analytics and presentation materials.
  • In collaboration with Underwriting, ensure that best practice underwriting and actuarial resources are utilized. Ensure compliance with regulatory, accounting, tax and legal requirements (mitigate reputational risk).


Main tasks

Client focus

  • In collaboration with Client Markets and Business Development, identify client themes and drivers for client needs to support the origination of P&C transactions in SID.
  • Meet regularly with clients to understand their motivation, and create structures, transaction plans and contracts tailored to meet client needs.
  • Develop professional relationships with key external and internal clients.
  • Represent PCSS as an innovator internally and externally.
  • Increase the number and quality of discussions about client needs with clients in the Asian markets, focused on SID.


Business focus

  • Manage transaction process and ensure an inclusive deal team approach with underwriters, actuarial, legal, accounting, finance and risk professionals within SR.
  • Develop and promote innovation.
  • Leverage Underwriting experts for local market and custom practices while promoting best practice and address governance matters. Drive efficiency using an inclusive deal team approach with cross-functional teams


Leadership and Responsibility

  • Participate in planning for the P&C Asia markets of SID in collaboration with Client Markets and Products.
  • Prioritize (triage) market opportunities and realize synergies among PCSS and other units of Swiss Re.
  • Assist with internal initiatives such as Transaction Focus group to advance the transactions topic with key internal stakeholders.


About You

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in the financial/insurance industry.
  • Experience in reinsurance either in Underwriting, Risk Management or Marketing, ideally complemented by practical experience in executing tailored P&C reinsurance transactions.
    • Thorough understanding of reinsurance risk and actuarial principles.
    • Work experience in a multi-cultural and cross-functional environment.


Technical Skills

  • Strong financial acumen with capital management / solvency proficiency.
  • Outstanding analytical capabilities.
  • Solid know-how of reinsurance products and markets.


Leadership qualities

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset and focus on execution.
  • Excellent team player – including ability to work well in a virtual team environment – with potential to manage large cross-functional teams.

Language skills

  • Fluency in English required and good command of Chinese or another Asian language is preferred.


Educational Experience

  • College degree required, Graduate degree preferred.
  • Actuarial or corporate finance qualifications would be viewed favourably.
