We are looking for a Senior Facultative Underwriter Property for the market regions in South East Asia.

The focus of this role will be Property Facultative business, Facilities and promoting our innovative, digital portal solution for SME/MM segments.

We are looking for an ambitious and high performing team player excited by the challenge of developing Facultative business to the next level. Your task will entail commercial underwriting including examining, underwriting and developing Property business (Man-made and Nat Cat) and in accordance with Asia Facultative strategy as well as defined marketing objectives and profitability targets. You will be responsible for both communicating with brokers, existing clients and client managers as well as identifying new prospective clients, brokers and business segments, whilst at the same time handling portfolios which have been assigned to you.

The opportunity

  • Originating, analyzing, pricing and underwriting Property risks and portfolios will fall under your remit, as will deploying capacity appropriately according to risk and portfolio quality and Group guidelines within the framework of underwriting authority.
  • Your core territorial remit will be Singapore and Southeast Asia, but you are expected to work closely with other markets in Asia to support their underwriting and business origination.
  • Market and promote Swiss Re vis-à-vis clients, brokers and associations, with the aim of developing highly engaged relationships and will be expected to apply your market and product knowledge to provide clients and brokers with adequate, joint solutions which meet their needs.
  • Your job will involve interaction among others with client managers, underwriters, structures and modelers across the region in order to build and maximize the market. You are also expected to interact with other regions and the Product Centre.
  • It will be upon you to develop new business pipelines and manage renewals, support the development of business and strategic plans for Property business with the aim of sustainably developing the Property book of core business as well as new solutions or transactions for our clients and brokers.
  • Working closely with the portfolio owners in the Region / Product Centre on to steer the portfolio to ensure profitable growth and portfolio balance and achieve both the quantitative metric and qualitative goals set
  • Acts as Property Facultative ambassador across the Asia Pacific Region and support product / market initiatives in the region / globally
  • Ensuring compliance with guidelines such as underwriting and pricing framework, the Code of Conduct and other corporate governance rules.
  • Ensuring timely entry of transactions and integrity of data, pricing and analysis into all relevant systems
  • Your performance will be measured based on bottom line.

 

About the Team

About You

  • University degree or vast experience in (re-)insurance business.
  • More than 10 years of relevant underwriting experience and up-to-date primary insurance product and market know-how or in a corresponding reinsurance/broker area, preferably in Southeast Asia markets but experience in other emerging markets can be considered.
  • Experience in primary markets / brokers or client network / North Asia, Indian sub-continents or ANZ markets, are added advantages.
  • Expertise in Power, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and General Property Underwriting for Single risks and Facilities, as well as portfolio assessment capability.
  • Promote Swiss Re's solutions including SwiftRe and other innovations jointly with the Solution team, Client / Broker management and other functions
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, matrix and multi-cultural environment, taking ownership, accountability and the extra mile to get things done both internally and externally to provide superior service to our clients / brokers
  • Ability to learn and deliver under pressure and at ease with going outside of comfort zone
  • Proven track record as a successful sales person and deal maker
