About the Role

 

The L&H Solutions Manager will drive innovative reinsurance propositions - particularly on product, platform partnerships and service innovations - for South East Asia (SEA) and India, with a specific market focus in SEA. They will work closely with the local client managers and cross functional team in creating new protection concepts, promoting them to SR's reinsurance clients, and bringing them to market.  This requires an in-depth understanding of the life and health insurance landscape of the region, across the value chain of distribution, product development, risk management and operations. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the delivery of Life and Health growth targets. To grow sustainable and profitable Life and Health (including medical) insurance business for SEAI with specific focus in SEA

 

  • Develop and drive collaborated Life and Health Strategy and integrated solutions to local markets. To showcase Swiss Re's Life and Health value propositions and strengthen Swiss Re's position as a leading reinsurer in the region.

 

  • Act as subject matter expert for Life and Health solutions. Internally as coach for local client managers to deliver collaborated solutions and services to clients; externally as opinion leader to engage clients and promote business opportunities.

 

  • Drive Product Innovation and Product Research & Development. Working with Solutions Groups team members, local client managers and Products to localize and execute differentiated new products for today and tomorrow, building Swiss Re's brand reputation as market leaders in innovation.

 

  • Integrate Data & UW Solutions with Product Propositions. Working with Solutions Groups team members, Data Analytics team and UW Propositions Lead to integrate the product proposition across insurance value chain, with the aim to strengthen Swiss Re's propositions and improve client's stickiness.

 

  • Promote Swiss Re's Thought Leadership to influence key stakeholders in the field. Working closely with the Regional Solutions Group to drive SR's thought leadership in the local markets, engage with the wider industry stakeholders and regulators on key trends and reforms, and steer the business portfolio for life and health.

 

  • Swiss Re's Risk Appetite. To steer Swiss Re for a competitive and sound risk appetite on life & health, in order to reflect the local market demands and experience.

 

About the Team

 

Swiss Re SEAI Solutions team belongs to the wider L&H Client Management (CM) team, who is a primary contact to our clients. We are close to our clients' key stakeholders and bring solutions to support clients' business strategy and help them overcome their challenges. Solutions team works closely with cross functional team of CM, Pricing, Underwriting, and Claims. Our commercial culture of strong collaboration among cross functional team both in local and with region enables SR to deliver the unique and differentiated solution to our clients.

 

About You

 

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant L&H experience in Asian insurance or reinsurer;
  • Demonstrate strong technical understanding in the risks and mechanics of protection products in Asia
  • An actuarial / underwriting/ data consultant background would be added advantage
  • Excellent innovator and marketer, strong drive for meeting (internal and external) client's needs;
  • Strong collaborator and ability to constructively challenge the status quo;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, sensitive to Asian cultures;
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Candidates with less experience can be considered for Assistant Vice President position
