About the Role

 

Swiss Re has established Swiss Re Asia Pte Ltd (SRAL) in Singapore to be Asia's regional home office legal entity. This is an exciting time to join Swiss Re within Asia as the company has finished transferring the existing Asia branches into SRAL. We have completed the launch of global SAP platform which will also support IFRS 17 & 9 as they are implemented across the region and are currently working on the implementation of the associated SAP based subledger system over the next 3-4 years.

As one of the key members of the regional finance of SRAL, this role has the primary responsibility to lead the regional reporting for the Group and Statutory body in Singapore as well as drive implementation of IFRS 17 and 9 for legal entity. The delivery for this role is crucial in achieving Swiss Re Asia Finance's objectives.

Key Outcomes

1. IFRS 17 implementation

Statutory reporting

  • Lead Singapore Statutory basis IFRS 17 implementations related technical matters
  • Support in developing local and regional accounting policies
  • Oversee reporting workstream to ensure alignment with the Standard's as well as local variation requirements
  • Proactively engage with project team to ensure right level of steering to deliver the requirements

Group reporting

  • Technical support for Group IFRS implementation for SRAL Legal Entity
  • Ensuring alignment of Group requirements with Statutory requirements for operational efficiency

2. Business partnering

  • Lead the Finance Market Expert community. Provide expert advice on client solutions.
  • Keep abreast of developing themes and proactively share ideas with the business and cross functional team
  • Closely work with business impact analysis workstream to ensure robustness in business insights and actionable for the management
  • Support business with accounting advice on IFRS 17 space

3. Knowledge repository

  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge repository
  • Conduct timely and effective training for IFRS 17 for the Asia Pacific team on periodic basis
  • Close collaboration with Accounting Policy lead to develop relevant business focused technical expertise within the team

 

About the Team

 

The Swiss Re Asia Finance team for SRAL comprises of approximately 25 employees based across the region and our branches within a wider finance department of over 90 people. The team collaborates with regional, local, and other global teams to deliver timely and reliable financial results for regulatory, statutory and group reporting, consistent governance around financial reporting risk and strategic initiatives implementation. In addition, Finance Reinsurance Asia is tasked to support business-partnering and accounting advice for IFRS and local accounting standards to enable business development opportunities across many of our front line and client facing functions.

 

About You

 

  • Qualified as Chartered Accountant
  • Expertise in International Accounting Standards (IFRS)
  • Strong IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 experience in implementation and advisory
  • Over 10 years of relevant work experience in Financial Reporting of Reinsurance /Insurance and/or Big-4 audit/advisory experience
  • Familiarity with reinsurance structures as well as structured financial products
  • Analytical mindset with ability to think critically and challenge constructively
  • Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Managing of teams
  • Strong focus on improving the control environment and continuous improvement of processes
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with multiple stakeholders
