About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting Swiss Re's business in Asia through optimising the deployment of capital and funding in the region.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Propose and implements capital management actions (including loans, guarantees, retrocessions and collateral structures) aimed at improving the capital and liquidity position, and carrier structure in the Asia region
  • Coordinate the Asia capital planning process, ensuring that the region's carriers are capitalized, and dividends repatriated, in accordance with Group policies
  • Ensure appropriate management information is provided on the capital, liquidity, foreign exchange, and asset-liability position of the relevant carriers
  • Support the review of large transactions both L&H and P&C in Asia.
  • Keep abreast of and address relevant regulatory, tax, and other relevant developments impacting Asia
  • You will provide the members of the Branches Management Committee as well as the Asian Finance Risk and Investment Committee with advice on relevant matters. You will work in close cooperation with the local finance, legal, regulatory, asset management and transaction teams as well as the broader Treasury team.

 

 

About the Team

 

Balance Sheet Management is one of four teams within Group Treasury. We are responsible for capital and liquidity management for the Reinsurance Business Unit, as well as asset-liability management and the Finance transaction review process across the Swiss Re Group. We are organized into three regional teams based in Zürich for EMEA, Armonk for the Americas, and Singapore for Asia, as well as a central team mainly responsible for asset-liability management. However, we are flexible in structuring our tasks and frequently work together on initiatives across teams. We constantly strive to improve our understanding of value creation in the context of Swiss Re and to use this knowledge to increase our effectiveness.

 

 

About You

 

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in the financial, insurance or consulting industry (preferably in risk management, actuarial, finance or structuring)
  • Good financial acuity with some knowledge of capital management, accounting framework preferred
  • Outstanding analytical capabilities
  • Excellent teammate (including ability to work well in a virtual team environment) with strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute independently on cross functional initiatives with the Finance, Actuarial, Legal, and Risk Managements teams
  • Global understanding and mentality, but has an understanding and appreciation for local requirements
  • University degree or professional qualification, demonstrating solid analytical ability
  • Proficient in English and Mandarin
  • Willingness to relocate to Beijing China within 1 to 2 years
