About the Role

Functions of the role include (but are not limited to):


  • Provide actuarial expertise in the monitoring, development and pricing of existing and new business opportunities
  • Work closely with internal functional specialists and partners on product pricing matters and negotiate terms
  • Manage workflow and quality from Pricing Analysts including regular market price benchmarking and follow-up actions
  • Conduct pricing reviews and experience investigations on the open and closed portfolios
  • Understand the individual life insurance market and client needs by liaising as appropriate with clients on pricing and product development issues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners
  • Use partner knowledge and knowledge of life insurance proposition levers to develop and implement innovative solutions to meet customer needs
  • Contribute to the development of pricing bases and pricing tools
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of local and global actuarial practices and trends
  • Responsible for representing iptiQ ANZ on pricing related industry working group matters and formal submissions as required
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of data collections and reporting for regulators.


About the Team

The Pricing & Propositions team is a specialised function, responsible for iptiQ ANZ's product, pricing and underwriting performance. The team is tasked with delivering a customer-centric, professional and sustainable product and underwriting architecture that meets customer needs and reflects positively on the brands we partner with.


The Pricing & Propositions team's services and solutions include:


  • Research (demographic, economic, behavioural, qualitative) around existing and emerging mortality and morbidity risks
  • Using research, outreach and partner collaboration to define the iptiQ ANZ life insurance product, pricing and underwriting strategy
  • The ongoing provision of a market leading product architecture, across existing and new product ranges and their respective pricing approaches
  • Robust product and pricing governance
  • Providing the iptiQ ANZ team with specialist knowledge of the individual life insurance market proposition
  • Being the iptiQ ANZ champions for the global innovation agenda and bring global product, pricing and underwriting developments to iptiQ ANZ
  • Provide knowledge-sharing opportunities, tools, training, and technical product, pricing and underwriting direction to iptiQ ANZ partners
  • The timely and accurate provision of portfolio reporting to regulators


About You

You will require:


  • Qualified actuary with 7+ years of experience working in the insurance or reinsurance industry, experience in Pricing is strongly preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Must be a self-starter and independent problem solver;
  • Project management skills and ability to work to deadlines;
  • Ability to make decisions based on sound business judgement;
  • Experience with actuarial modelling systems such as MoSes or Prophet is desirable
