Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Health Solutions Manager is to drive Swiss Re's collaborated health strategy to the Japanese market.  The role will also be the local expert for the initiatives leveraging strong local involvement in delivering integrated health solutions to our clients.  This requires an in-depth understanding of health insurance market landscape, products, customer proposition and distribution.

This role, reporting to the Head Client Markets Japan, and working with Client Markets L&H Japan, Head of Health Solutions Asia and the wider Solutions Group, shall deliver risk knowledge, thought leadership and solutions to clients and the wider industry including regulators to drive innovation, expand and manage emerging risks sustainably.  This role will work together with Products and Business Management to manage the Japan market and product developments, and increase Swiss Re's profile and progress in closing the health protection gap.  

Life and Health Japan is one of the most diverse and important markets for Swiss Re globally, with significant long term partnerships with global clients from Europe and North America, as well as large local Japanese clients with significant potentials.  This role is a key part of our L&H Asia's strategy as we look to continue our success in differentiation via professionalising solutions.  The successful candidate will be expected to closely collaborate with the senior management of Life & Health Asia (Products, Globals and Client Markets) in driving the execution of Swiss Re's differentiation.

 

Job Specification:

  • Accountable for the delivery of health & medical growth targets:
    to grow sustainable and profitable health reinsurance business in Japan
  • Develop and drive collaborated Health strategy and integrated solutions to local markets:
    to showcase Swiss Re's health innovation, value propositions and strengthen Swiss Re's position as a leading reinsurer in the region.
  • Subject matter expert for health solutions:
    internally as instigator for local client managers to deliver collaborated solutions and services to clients; externally as opinion leader to engage clients and promote business opportunities.
  • Promote Swiss Re's Thought Leadership:
    to influence key stakeholders in the field, particularly in closing the health protection gap: ongoing steering and management of Health client campaigns and industry events, such as Health Symposium.
  • Product Development and Innovations:
    working with Solutions Groups team members, local client managers and Products to localize and execute differentiated new products and integrated solutions, with the aim to grow the health business and enhance Swiss Re's market leadership in health.
  • Swiss Re's Risk Appetite:
    to proactively steer Swiss Re to have a competitive risk appetite on health in order to reflect the local market demands, characteristics and experience as well as to be ready for emerging opportunities.

 

Qualification: 

  • Minimum 10 yrs relevant L&H experience in Asian insurance, with either Swiss Re or alternative top-tier insurers or reinsurers
  • Demonstrate strong technical understanding of the underlying risks of health and medical products across Asia, a technical background is preferred (not a must).
  • The ability to build relationships internally and externally is seen as a key requirement together with experience in delivering this innovative solution as well as the ability to think differently
  • Excellent innovator and marketer, strong drive for meeting (internal and external) client's needs
  • Good at building collaboration as well as constructively challenging teams to push material and produce focused business delivery
  • Excellent communication and influence skills, sensitive to Asian cultures
  • Flexible to travel
  • Strong team ethic. Experienced in dealing with a large multicultural teams to build comprehensive solutions
  • Experience in selling health (or medical) based product solutions
