Description of duties and responsibilities: 

  • Enter and maintain information in systems and tools used to complete associated tasks
  • Handling of closings, statements and contract changes during the policy period
  • Support in premium handling, monitoring and chasing
  • Create and maintain records both electronically and physically, following established guidelines and processes
  • Post underwriting support on endorsement handling
  • Handling of international business programs
  • Preparation of policy documentation
  • Follow established performance standards, metrics and controls applicable to the business unit supported
  • When errors are detected, proactively contact customer or process owner with inconsistencies found and directions for corrections
  • Participate and implementation of ad-hoc business operation related projects
  • Produce, verify and maintain business reports for regulatory compliance e.g. MAS contract checklist, AML Key control monitoring
  • Pre-underwriting support task - review risk request, risk assessment, preparing costing, underwriting summary forms, prepare quotes, handle endorsements & calculations all General Insurance Business
  • Collaboration with outsourced providers on queries and issues to ensure data quality and accuracy

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Interact and play as one with on-shore/off-shore contractors, as appropriate, to answer questions or give directions;
  • Diligently follow-up on outstanding items and documentation
  • Responsible for internal reporting when needed
  • Support Line Manager when required.

 

About You

  • University Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and speak Japanese; should already be based in Japan
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data following established processes and procedures. Must be fully proficient with English (reading, written and verbal).
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant Insurance Operations experience required.
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach successfully working in globally located team situations in a matrix environment, understanding and exhibiting sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Evidenced use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work on complex problems and review related detailed information to participate in developing and evaluating options and assists in implementing solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external people in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong analytical skills including underwriting evaluation and determining and communicating recommendations to the Underwriter while working within established underwriting guidelines and operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow process steps, using different sets of rules under certain conditions, or determine proper order of process steps to get to desired end point.
  • Demonstrated willingness to seek new knowledge keeping up-to-date technically and process-wise, applying new knowledge to daily work activities and responsibilities.
