About the Team

You will be an integral member of the Actuarial Management Canada Life & Health team which comprises approximately 20 actuaries. You will report to the Vice President & Actuary. The team is responsible for valuation and financial reporting for multiple reporting bases, including (but not limited to) local Canadian IFRS, USGAAP and Economic Value.

 

 

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to support the Swiss Re Canada valuation team with external retrocession reporting on an embedded value and US GAAP basis - including development/reporting of quarterly results; supporting the quarter-end process; coordinating and reporting earnings.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Canadian valuation reporting for external retrocessions
  • Develop and maintain GGY Axis models
  • Analyze and present quarterly earnings and balance sheet movement
  • Support quarterly embedded value reporting, including earnings and capital movement analysis
  • Prepare and update process documentation as necessary and maintain controls associated with quarterly reporting
  • Coordinating projects and workflow with internal/external teams

 

About You

  • You will be a recent FSA (or equivalent) or near FSA (or equivalent) with strong experience in a corporate actuarial environment including basis changes, financial reporting systems/processes
  • Your strengths will be your analytical and communication skills
  • Your technical skills will include GGY AXIS modelling skills, Microsoft Office and database skills
  • We want employees who enjoy working independently, and in a team, to contribute to the successful delivery of time-sensitive projects
  • Project management skills to coordinate workflow are an asset
  • Having knowledge of embedded value, US GAAP reporting and Canadian regulatory financial reporting requirements is an asset
  • University degree in mathematics or actuarial science
