Become an integral part of the Global Actuarial Process & Systems team!

Would you like to help us shape the global valuation landscape for the corporate actuarial function in L&H Business Management?

We offer you a great opportunity to design and implement a common global valuation system and reporting process, driving greatly improved standardisation and efficiency across our global operations. 

You will play a key role in the Actuarial Operations & Solutions (AOS) team to reshape the actuarial landscape and ensure its future readiness in the face of constantly evolving technologies.

This Senior Actuarial Analyst or Actuary, Assistant Vice President role is a very flexible position that offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of topics depending on your skills and interest. 

 

About The Team

 

Actuarial Operations & Solutions (AOS) plans, builds, operates, and improves Swiss Re's global systems and processes for Life & Health business.  We own and operate Swiss Re's largest application and database which is used by Valuation, Finance, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, and other business steering departments.  We comprehend business challenges in order to provide solutions and make strategic decisions that will help the valuation landscape in preparing for the future by launching or supporting projects.  We have about 15 team members spread across the globe, including Toronto, Armonk, Bangalore, London, and Zurich. 

 

Core Responsibilities

 

This role entails designing and building innovative solutions to manuals process.  We aim to build a fully automated production process that continuously updates valuation results with the latest actuarial assumptions and cedent data.  You will partner with experts from different business areas and specializations to design best-in-class solutions to shared pain points. 

  • Find solutions to manuals models/end user applications (EUAs) with focus on converting spreadsheet models to AXIS, developing actuarial systems, and managing the portfolio by mitigating immaterial liabilities
  • Reduce time spent on manual processes by automations/minimizing touchpoints, reducing system hand-offs, and improving an end-to-end manual model/EUA management process.  
  • Embrace global perspectives and collaboration to identify grey areas in standard calculations and methodologies, to consolidate and communicate best practice across regions, and to partner with Swiss Re's global initiatives (e.g. AVA, IETV/IFRS, etc.) to ensure robust methods. 

 

 

About You

  • Experienced actuary with 3+ years of L&H valuation experience in the insurance and/or reinsurance industry
  • Intermediate/Advanced AXIS experience with its end-to-end usage in the financial reporting process (data, assumptions, models, system links)
  • Intermediate/Advanced R studio experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues in different locations and background
  • Ability to identify and break-up complex problems in a systematic manner to find innovative solutions
  • Highly motivated and internally driven Fellow of the SOA or Associate making strong progress toward fellowship
  • Leadership traits and exposure
