About the Role


You have an exciting and excellent opportunity to join the IFRS project. Swiss Re will adopt IFRS in 2024 and together with the team, you will write and issue IFRS accounting policies. You act as point of contact for clarifications and interpretations of accounting policy questions.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual that strengthens our team and project. You will have the excellent possibility to actively impact and support the analysis of IFRS accounting standards and ensure that appropriate and globally consistent accounting policies are issued.

We need an accounting policy specialist that enjoys addressing and solving complicated accounting topics, and a has strong understanding of Swiss Re's business and products. With your deep and profound understanding of IFRS you will take ownership over policy topics and cover the whole life cycle from development of the accounting policy to coordinating impact assessments and providing implementation support.

You have the possibility to engage with other teams and provide direction and steering on accounting matters. You collaborate and positively cooperate with finance and actuarial professionals as well as with the system implementation projects to enable a successful introduction of IFRS. About the team


The Accounting Research team is part of Group Reporting, consisting of accounting specialists located in Zurich and New York. We are the central team for all accounting policies matters within Swiss Re and key for the IFRS implementation.


About you


  • You are passionate about accounting and IFRS, are keen on the interpretation and application of accounting standards, and have the proven ability to translate principles-based concepts into guidelines that can be implemented
  • You come with minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance function
  • You are a qualified accountant such as CA/CPA (or equivalent)
  • You have a strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products – L&H and/or P&C
  • You had worked before with IFRS, US GAAP and/or local statutory principles. Knowledge of EVM or similar economic valuation frameworks will be an advantage
  • You have experience in working in a project environment and like to collaborate and communicate
  • You have great analytical and organizational skills with the ability to sustain high level of work output and meet very tight deadlines
  • You have creative problem-solving skills, are an independent problem solver with a keen sense of pragmatism
  • You are proficient in English - verbal and written communication
