We are looking for a passionate student to join Swiss Re's Engineering underwriting team. You will take up exciting actuarial projects for reinsurance business! The position is part of the Engineering South West Europe & Africa desk and you will be working in a team that is dedicated to France and Belux.

 

About the role

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

 

  • Develop new costing models for Engineering treaty business in collaboration with the underwriters, based on client data
  • Test and assess the impact of using these models on selected accounts and on the overall portfolio
  • Present the modelling approach and results to the team
  • Review and update existing models, suggest and implement improvements
  • Support the team when needed to cost new treaty business

 

About the team

 

Global Engineering

 

We are a large international team with presence in 14 offices around the world. Our task is to conduct risk assessments and develop reinsurance solutions for our insurance clients. Our team has a wide range of different technical and scientific backgrounds and experiences complemented by a strong team spirit. In addition, our team develops new and creative solutions for our clients that address the newest technological developments and how these shape our client's risk profiles.

 

About you

 

  • University studies in actuarial science or mathematics
  • Strong analytical skills and good proficiency with common IT applications
  • High interest and enthusiasm to learn about technical topics
  • Great teammate with high client orientation 
  • Strong communication skills, proficient in English and French
  • Reliable, forward-thinking, creative and enthusiastic
  • Delivers high quality work also under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills

 

Duration of internship: 6 months, starting March/April 2021
