About the role

 

Your main responsibilities would be:

  • Underwriting oversight of the Irish Medex business
  • Establishing and maintaining UW governance and guidance
  • Defining Costing/UW authorities
  • Ensuring UW governance requirements are adhered to
  • Reviewing and approving tariff rates on an annual basis
  • Handles and approves UW referrals and product changes
  • Represents UW function on EVAG Executive Team
  • Liaises with Regulator
  • Providing technical support to the EVAG CEO

 

Underwriting

Has responsibility and accountability for the costing of the EMEA Medical business which includes:

  • Is accountable to ensure costing accuracy through adequate UW and tariff setting
  • Underwriting oversight and provides UW sign-off
  • Establishing and maintaining of UW governance and guidance
  • Managing of Costing/UW authorities
  • Ensuring UW governance requirements are adhered to
  • Reviewing and approving tariff rates on an annual basis
  • Managing and approving
    • Corporate referrals,
    • New products
    • New drugs/treatments
    • New Products
    • New benefits
    • Benefit changes to existing products
  • Reinsurance pricing / IGR
  • Providing legal carrier (EVAG) UW sign-off

 

Portfolio Ownership

The EVAG CUO supports the Head A&H EMEA with Portfolio Ownership topics including:

  • Analysis of planned profitability, US GAAP, combined ratio, EVM NB and prior business CM3
  • Performing and reviewing portfolio deep dives and analyses (e.g. for EVAG BoD, Factbook, Early Warnings etc. )
  • Monitoring exposure and performance (e.g. through CBR), conducting performance deep dives and sub-segment mix analyses
  • Defining portfolio steering actions to achieve the portfolio objectives.
  • Providing input to Finance for planning (e.g. LR projections)
  • Achieving costing accuracy (Neutral Actual vs Expected)

 

EVAG ET Member

The EVAG CUO is part of the EVAG ET and:

  • Defines the portfolio strategy, goals and financial plan together with the EVAG ET members
  • Is accountable to the EVAG BoD

 

About you

  • Qualified L&H actuary with 10+ years’ experience
  • Proficient in English is a must
  • Profound understanding of Medical Insurance Business
  • Ability to take a strategic, risk-aware, forward-looking, 360-degree view of the portfolio, implementing timely actions based on macroeconomic and market conditions
