About the role


Are you an experienced Claims Specialist with passion for life & health products? Are client needs always your priority? Then we are looking you!

 

We are looking for a Life & Health Claims Specialist to join our Life & Health Claims Team in Zurich. You will work for the Belgium, Netherland, Luxemburg (BeNeLux) markets.  You will also support other EMEA markets.

 

You will get a chance to effectively manage our claim liability through implementing appropriate client and claims management / risk management strategies.

 

You will work closely with Client Markets and Underwriting to provide outstanding service to our Clients and collaborate with Actuarial Team for Claims Data analysis and interpretation with appropriate feedbacks to future Product development and Pricing as well as suggest appropriate interventions to improve the portfolio experience.

 

The opportunity includes:

 

 

  • Independent day-to-day delivering of the claims value chain to Swiss Re clients. E.g. providing opinions on complex claim cases, giving the input for new product development and providing quality claims training and claims audits.
  • Provide technically correct claims management decisions within authority while applying the appropriate balance of service and risk management.
  • Actively and appropriately manage a portfolio of new and existing claims in accordance with Swiss Re’s claims philosophy, the Treaty, policy terms and agreed service standards
  • Support our senior Claims Specialist for Benelux in being a valuable contact person for the Claims Offices of designated clients and have meaningful interactions and discussions with our clients.
  • Perform claims audits and deep dives to review the clients' management of claims portfolios, taking chances to create a positive impact
  • Support the development and implementation of BM Solutions in EMEA and especially in Benelux
  • Build a positive relationship with client Claims Managers and L&H colleagues
  • Build a deep understanding of the client that allows us to align our claims interests and goals with those of the client.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders like Client Markets, Underwriting, Actuarial, and the wider Claims community, to share claims trends, analyze and interpret data and suggest appropriate interventions to improve the portfolio experience.
  • Support the business unit in tendering for new business, innovative product development, Solutions and in promoting Swiss Re's claims profile and expertise.
  • Identify market threats and opportunities

 

About the team


Our team, Life & Health Business Management EMEA is responsible for managing the inforce business. There are teams leading Claims, Technical Accounting, Actuarial Management, and Portfolio Management activities.

 

The successful candidate will be part of the EMEA Life & Health Claims team. We work collaboratively with our internal partners and client companies, sharing insights, building best practices and leveraging our global knowledge and expertise effectively. The team aims to actively manage the in-force business to deliver maximum shareholder value and to protect the L&H balance sheet.

 

Reporting to the L&H Claims Manager currently responsible for Israel, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Nordics and Baltic, Netherlands, and Luxembourg; for day-to-day activities you will be aligning with our Claims Specialist for the Benelux.

About You

 

  • Formal qualification or study in either business, financial services, law or medical field;
  • At least 5 years' experience in direct insurance or reinsurance claims management in life insurance, long term care and disability products;
  • You are proficient in Dutch, French and have a very good knowledge of English; other European languages are of advantage
  • Deep understanding of the Benelux insurance market
  • Significant awareness of market and portfolio dynamics, including the ability to anticipate and mitigate potential risks and opportunities
  • Client relationship management experience and soft skills to carry out these responsibilities;
  • Excellent analytical capabilities to conclude and deliver messages from data
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Willingness to take accountability for leading and driving tasks and projects, combined with the ability to collaborate and support colleagues and the wider team
