About the Role

As a Credit Risk Analyst within the Credit Risk Management (CRM) unit of the Financial Risk Management (FRM) department, you will be working in a specialised team responsible for risk oversight of the Swiss Re Group's corporate sector credit risk accumulations. You will contribute to the success of Swiss Re by identifying risk worth taking while steering away from risks that could destabilize the Group. Furthermore, the role will bring an independent, broad and long-term perspective to protect Swiss Re's reputation and financial strength.

The candidate will be expected to manage credit risk on non-financial corporates in identified portfolios, focusing on key credit metrics from a single obligor and portfolio perspective. Additionally, the candidate will be required to develop a strong understanding of financial risk calculations associated with key insurance products, and effectively and consistently communicate the methodology to the business units. The role will coordinate with the broader Risk Management function as well as Business Units in support of sound risk taking, ensuring the continued financial resilience of Swiss Re.

Responsibilities will include the periodic reviews of selected obligors with a responsibility to propose internal ratings and associated credit limits, day-to-day management of reporting of key risks & trends to senior management for certain products and contribute to the advancement of strategic initiatives identified by the Head of Credit Risk Corporates, Credit Risk Management and Financial Risk Management. The candidate will assess and recommend risk appetite for structured transactions on a timely basis, mentor more junior members of the team and complete tasks with a reasonable amount of independence and according to milestones outlined by senior members of the team. The role will require an effective relationship to be established with key business unit personnel as well as other risk management groups.

About the Team

The candidate will be a member of the Credit Risk Management team within Swiss Re Group's Financial Risk Management Department and be responsible for credit risk management associated with a portfolio of global corporate names. To be domiciled in Zurich, the role requires the ability to effectively communicate with members of the Financial Risk Management team and business units globally, notably in London, Zurich, Bangalore and Armonk. The position will work with other members of the Credit Risk Management Group to actively identify, review, monitor and manage credit risk associated with a suite of traditional products across global (re)insurers, as well as risks associated with structured transactions and related insurance products as necessary.

The FRM department of Swiss Re reports directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer and is a team of expert risk managers that maintains responsibility for the oversight and control of all financial market and credit risks across the Swiss Re Group. The FRM department's mission is to ensure that all financial risks across the Swiss Re Group and its Business Units are fully understood, appropriately governed and valued, as well as transparently monitored and controlled. Credit risks are prevalent across the Swiss Re Group, including investment strategies in Asset Management, underwriting activities in Credit & Surety (reinsurance and direct commercial insurance), credit counterparty risks embedded in any type of structured transactions, as well as through corporate finance activities (custodial, banking, and derivatives counterparties). The CRM team identifies, measures, monitors and controls credit default and migration risk, and ensures that Swiss Re's credit risk profile is transparent to management and appropriate relative to Swiss Re's risk appetite.
