About the Role:


The Data Protection Officer is responsible for coordinating and monitoring data protection compliance for Swiss Re. This role has a particular focus on iptiQ. iptiQ has a business model based on forging strong partnerships to sell insurance via trusted brands. Combining expertise with smart use of data and technology enables the business to excel at creating digital insurance solutions.




  • Establishes and coordinates Swiss Re's data protection compliance management program in the iptiQ business.

  • Reports to and supports the Global Data Protection Officer in strengthening Swiss Re's global data protection compliance program.

  • Provides guidance on data protection compliance in the iptiQ business and supports it with a good understanding of the business.

  • Designs, implements and maintains an adequate incident response and data breach notification procedure as required by respective legal and regulatory provisions that is in line with Swiss Re Group policies, standards and procedures.

  • Monitors and communicates regulatory developments in the iptiQ business.

  • Coordinates and provides guidance, assessments, training, and monitoring of the data protection control environment within the iptiQ business.

  • Supports and actively participates in the Data Protection Compliance Network.


About You:


  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience on data protection compliance with a legal, compliance, risk management, audit or consulting background (CIPP certification being highly desirable).

  • Good knowledge of data protection and related consumer protection requirements for the primary insurance sector, experience with online channels and managing third party services providers being an advantage.

  • Ability to assess data protection compliance risks business and to propose and coordinate timely, commercially aware mitigating measures.

  • Ability to analyze data processing activities to make effective recommendations that enables the business to implement its strategy in a compliant manner

  • Good understanding of project management, keen interest in IT an advantage.

  • Gravitas and a high level of independence and integrity.

  • Solid English writing, presentation and communication skills.
