In this position, you will:

  • Lead and contribute to cross functional working groups and projects around economic valuation and reporting frameworks such as EVM*, SST and IFRS
  • Analyse and review implementations of the EVM framework in valuation systems and models
  • Apply new technologies, analytical methods and programming to build products and tools that streamline the process from data transformation to insight generation
  • Contribute to the reporting of EVM financial statements and the submission of the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) to the Swiss regulator
  • Contribute to the annual calibration of parameters for the EVM framework
  • Develop and provide customised / ad-hoc analyses
  • Support trainings the team provides on economic valuation in Swiss Re


About the Team

Economic Valuation & Methodology is a team of nine, located in Zurich and Bratislava. We are part of Group Reporting within Group Finance. We maintain and further develop the Group's framework for Economic Value Management (EVM) and act as the centre of competence for its interpretation and implementation. Furthermore, we maintain the methodology for the available capital in SST and contribute to the development of valuation principles for the new accounting standards IFRS9 and IFRS17.


We are closely working together with the Economic Reporting team with whom we share a home base (office space) in Zurich. Furthermore, we collaborate with colleagues in Finance and Treasury as well as in Risk Management, Asset Management and Underwriting on topics related to economic valuation and capital allocation.


  • EVM is Swiss Re's internal framework for measuring value creation and steering the company, including planning, pricing, reserving and asset-liability management (ALM). EVM also serves as starting point for our economic-based regulatory reporting such as the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) or Solvency II.


About You

You have excellent analytical skills with holistic financial thinking and are able to interpret financial data. You demonstrate strong personal accountability and you like working on a flexible schedule. You have the ability to perform tasks with a high degree of autonomy, but also collaborate with all partners to deliver on clearly attributed goals and objectives.


Your profile:

  • University degree, preferably in Economics, Corporate Finance or equivalent
  • Two to five years of experience in Finance, Risk Management or similar, preferably in the (re-)insurance industry
  • Knowledge of economic valuation principles for insurance business. Familiarity with EVM, SST, IFRS17 or Solvency II as an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required. Knowledge in programming language (e.g. Python), data science and visualisation
  • Creative, showing a high degree of own initiative
  • A team-player, with willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
