Emerging Risk Manager - Graduate (Hybrid, m/f/x/d)

About the Role
Do you have a science, engineering or medical background and want to develop risk knowledge to mitigate risks and craft insurance solutions? Are you ready to identify and assess new and changing risks, and translate research into actionable business insights? Do you have strong analytical skills, are familiar with social & natural science methodologies and equally comfortable with data crunching and writing succinct texts? If yes, this Graduate position might be a great opportunity for you. In this role, you will work in a diverse team which identifies, assesses and reports emerging downside risks and opportunity trends across the Group.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Research a wide array of societal, economic, political, environmental and technological risks and trends relevant to Swiss Re and our business environment
  • Assist to further develop and improve our emerging risk processes (including digital solutions)
  • Support follow-up action for identified emerging risks and opportunities for Swiss Re
  • Contribute to internal and external communication products

 

About the Team

Within Swiss Re Institute's Research, Engagement & Sustainability department, the Foresight, Research and modelling team develops foresight to identify emerging risks and business opportunities. As Group function we engage with Business Units to conduct research and modelling projects that enable decision making with material financial impact.

 

To capture emerging risks early as well as to assess and monitor the risk landscape, its drivers and impact son the re/insurance industry, we entertain a network for early signal detection and risk assessments across geographies and risk subject areas. Our emerging risk insights help to raise risk awareness, mitigate specific risks and enable insurance solutions. Based on our group wide risk and opportunity foresight process, we annually release the Swiss Re flagship publication SONAR, which is widely acknowledged within the re/insurance industry.

 

About You

  • Successfully completed a university degree or equivalent in natural, engineering or medical sciences.
  • Strong analytical skills (quantitative & qualitative) and a preference for interdisciplinary work
  • Ability work independently and feel comfortable in a dynamic global and multicultural environment
  • Strong presentation, communication and writing skills; proficiency in English is a requirement, other languages are a plus
  • An affinity with digital technologies and their practical applications
