About the Programme


We are looking for highly motivated graduates with strong interpersonal and analytical skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. You have a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree with up to 3 years professional experience – we invite you to apply to our graduates@swissre programme 2022.

About the Role
 

We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Casualty Treaty Underwriting team in Zurich.


Our team is responsible for underwriting renewal and new business, stemming from Mediterranean Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with Motor being the principle focus, but Liability and other Casualty lines of business being part of the remit too.
 

Your role will involve the following:


• Supporting and underwriting risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
• Contributing to results and monitoring performance in line with the business plan.
• Collaborating with the Client Markets team and other functions in the development and communication of Casualty business.
• Contributing to group Casualty strategy and initiatives.
• Participating in meetings with brokers and clients, and with other departments within Swiss Re.
• Becoming a point of reference on technical issues and market trends for internal and external clients.

About the Team


We are a team of 11 Casualty Treaty Underwriters looking after business written in Mediterranean Europe, Middle East and Africa. We consider ourselves a very dynamic team with loads of energy. While we work closely together with one another and our colleagues from other functions, the team embraces the flexibility that Swiss Re provides when it comes to the way we work.


About You


• Successfully completed university degree, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Economics, Law or equivalent
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
• Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
• Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, a fast learner
• Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative
• Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the team result and team spirit
• Ability and passion to work in a global and multicultural environment
• Proven expertise to work independently and proactively
• Proficient oral and written English skills and very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word): programming language capabilities advantageous (open sources languages)
