About the Programme 

We are looking for graduates with strong interpersonal skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. You have a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree with up to 3 years professional experience – we invite you to apply to our graduates@swissre programme 2023!
The programme offers you the chance to join the multifaceted, fast-moving world of a leading risk knowledge organisation. Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on- and off-the-job training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units. 


About the role

Our Component and Platform Engineers work closely together with our product development teams. They support the teams with technical challenges, bring back common solutions and prepare them for all other teams to reuse in a convenient manner. You will receive clearly defined targets for components and services to build and to promote to all surrounding teams. In this role, you will also be responsible for collaborating with global teams and outsourcing partners during all software development phases.

About the team

Our team is the global Reinsurance Technology team, responsible for the technical architecture and engineering of IT solutions for the Reinsurance business unit. The team members are passionate of bringing business needs and technology together. We closely collaborate with other teams and colleagues around the globe to share knowledge and engineer solutions.

Your responsibilities include:
•    Provides standard build and deployment mechanisms, adhere to best practice pipeline setups
•    Supports teams with keeping up to date with the latest Java, Spring Boot, and dependencies
•    Solves technical problems with mentorship from experts
•    Communicate on technical improvements and best practices
•    Keep up with technology trends and identify promising solutions that meet our requirements.
•    Present and sell ideas to wider team with right story with supporting reasoning


About you

•    Final year Bachelor student, Master student or graduate with a quantitative background
•    Strong communicator, able to clearly communicate sophisticated technical concepts
•    Knowledge in software development using Java using the Spring framework and Spring Boot (full stack a plus, including TypeScript, Python, Scripting, etc.)
•    Knowledge in API design and implementation (REST, RPC, SOAP, etc.)
•    Knowledge in modern software architecture using synchronous, asynchronous integration technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, etc.)
•    Good analytical skills, and tackle problems in a structured way, joining your own creative ideas and those of others
•    You are passionate about software development and technology
•    You are eager to support business and serve as a value adding force to build an impact
