About the Programme


We are looking for graduates with strong interpersonal skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. You have a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree with up to 3 years professional experience – we invite you to apply to our graduates@swissre programme 2022. 
 

The programme offers you the chance to join the dynamic, fast paced world of a leading risk knowledge organisation. Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on- and off-thejob training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units. 
 

About the role


Are you passionate about creating real value and building effective partnerships to achieve success? Then you should consider this opportunity! As a Graduate, you will work as a member of our team to: 


• Originate and Underwrite treaty and facultative business for the various Engineering classes. This includes technical and actuarial assessment, contract wording review and negotiation with the clients.
• Provide high quality and proficient service to our clients, through advice, special acceptances, trainings and workshops.
• Source new business by developing the customer relationships with insurance companies and brokers. Position Swiss Re as client's preferred partner.
• Drive product innovation by collaborating with clients and designing tailor-made reinsurance solutions.
• Become a specialist on the Re-/insurance market in respect of insurance law and regulation, contract wordings, and on brokers and competitors.
• Collaborate with client managers, market underwriters, actuaries, claims experts, as well as other internal partners with the objective to bring value for the client and Swiss Re.
• Commit and embrace the implementation of critical initiatives for the Engineering line of business.
• Foster Global Engineering activities through external networks, (eg social medias, articles, interviews, market events and conferences).

 

About the team
 

We, Global Engineering are a large international team with presence in 14 offices around the world. You will be a part of a results-oriented and experienced team of Engineering Underwriters located in Zurich with a broad range of different technical and scientific backgrounds and experiences complemented by a strong team spirit. Our clients are all over Southern and Western Europe.
 

About You


• You will have successfully completed university degree, preferably in Engineering, Actuarial Science or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
• Commercial savviness, interest and means to write business, being entrepreneurial.
• Strong interest in /motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance.
• Team-player, willingness to chip in actively to the overall team spirit.
• Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment with a lot of teamwork, and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location if required.
• Mature & self-confident; able to work with clients, business partners or senior colleagues.
• Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment.
• Very good communication and social skills, facility to work independently and proactively.
• Excellent oral and written English and French skills; additional language skills advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
