About the role

Are you passionate about Finance and being part of a global team? Our Finance Globals team provides valuable financial insights to Division Globals, the market division looking after Swiss Re's largest Reinsurance clients worldwide.

This role provides the rare opportunity to develop an in-depth financial and business skill-set in a truly global and fast-paced environment. We are well embedded within the client management teams of Division Globals and therefore very close to client and market developments worldwide and across all types of business (Property & Casualty, Life & Health, traditional business and bespoke transactions).

You will acquire in-depth financial knowledge and learn how a leading reinsurer is financially monitoring and steering its business. You will partner with colleagues in the wider Finance community as well as other Swiss Re functions such as Products, Business Management and Risk Management. Moreover, you will get familiar with accounting frameworks such as US GAAP and IFRS, and apply Swiss Re's Economic Value Management methodology.

As a Financial Analyst you will be fully engaged in supporting the team's various day-to-day activities and longer-term projects by:

  • Contributing to performance management by providing transparency and helping the business grow in the most attractive areas.
  • Supporting the business planning process for Division Globals on a worldwide basis and across all lines of business.
  • Business partnering and advisory - provide ad-hoc analyses across a wide range of themes, business initiatives, and presentations to senior management.
  • Reporting and controlling - support the preparation and further improvement of business projections, dashboards and other reports, in close partnership with other Finance units.

 

About the team

The Finance Globals team is the go-to function for Division Globals regarding all financial matters on client and divisional level, and provides advisory on strategic initiatives, transactions, and other business priorities. The team is part of the Reinsurance Financial Planning & Analysis department and works closely with client managers, other teams in Finance and the wider Swiss Re organisation. Finance Globals consists of team members in Zurich, Armonk/New York, and Hong Kong, as well as an extended team in Bangalore and Toronto.

 

About You

  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in finance, business, natural sciences or equivalent
  • Strong interest to learn about the insurance and reinsurance business
  • Approaches problems with curiosity and flexibility, is a fast learner
  • Creative, showing a high degree of own initiative
  • Good analytical skills and business mindset, can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Team-player who actively contributes to the overall team spirit
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global, multicultural and dynamic environment
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude to express him-/herself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
  • Mature & self-confident, able to work with internal clients, strategic partners and senior colleagues
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
