About the role

As a Graduate Financial Analyst, you will support the Accounting & Closing P&C team in all processes and its core activities related to financial accounting and closing of Reinsurance. You will have the opportunity to get deep insights into the economics of the reinsurance business and how individual non life products contribute to the overall value generation of the company. You will acquire in-depth technical expertise and knowledge of accounting treatment of underlying P&C products, external and internal transactions in a multi-valuation environment. You will develop an understanding of Swiss Re's Economic Value Management concept, as well as IFRS, US GAAP and Swiss Solvency Test (SST). This will enable you to analyse and explain deviations in financial results.

It is very important to focus on delivery whilst maintaining strong collaboration and fostering the constant exchange of information with counterparts.

In this role you will have a rare opportunity:

  • To support the quarterly reporting process and enable timely preparation of high quality deliverables
  • You will interpret and analyse the movements as well as providing business insights and explanations to internal clients / stakeholders
  • To review the implementation of the EVM framework
  • You will contribute to cross functional working groups or initiatives and projects, including financial reporting IT developments and accounting standards developments.
  • You collaborate and engage with various functions involved in the quarterly reporting processes and ensure timely preparation of high quality outputs


About the team

Within Reinsurance Financial Accounting Technical, the Accounting & Closing P&C team leads the accounting & closing for P&C business covering all valuations. We are responsible for defining and executing the financial accounting & closing processes within Reinsurance as well as supporting the financial reporting of the Business Unit.

We are a diversified and multinational team of approximately 25 team members located in Zürich and Bangalore. A position in our team gives you a wide range of opportunity to widen the understanding of the financial and economics mechanics of the reinsurance business. We work in a friendly, collaborative and fun team atmosphere.

About You

  • You have successfully completed university degree, preferably in finance, actuarial science or equivalent
  • Strong interest in to learn about insurance & reinsurance
  • Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
  • Creative, showing a high degree of own initiative
  • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the team spirit
  • You have the ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment, and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location
  • Aptitude to express him-/herself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
  • Mature & self-confident; Able to work with clients, strategic partners or senior colleagues
  • Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment, and work independently and proactively
  • You demonstrate analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Very good communication as well as interpersonal skills
