About the role

As an Intern 

 

  • You will assess sensitive business transactions in line with our Sustainable Business Risk Framework and the Code of Conduct,
  • You will perform environmental analyses, impact assessments, and support the overall team (e.g. on further assessments and communication formats),
  • You will help us to further develop our sustainability policies and support their implementation. 

 

We will expect you to work well with internal partners (underwriters, client managers, asset managers) and colleagues at different levels of hierarchy in fulfilling this function. You will report to the Head Sustainability, Emerging and Political Risk Management.

Our Sustainability, Emerging and Political Risk Management team scans the horizon for future risks and developments, assesses their impact on Swiss Re, and enables integrated and forward-looking decision-making. We therefore play a strong role in early warning, risk mitigation and thought leadership. In addition, we oversee the company wide sustainability strategy and represents Swiss Re’s sustainability efforts externally.
The team is embedded in Group Qualitative Risk Management which is responsible for the risks that are not quantitatively modelled, such as sustainability, emerging, political, operational, regulatory, and information security risks.

 

About you

 

You bring along the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Master in natural sciences, engineering, or another field relevant for environmental sustainability.
  • Practical experience in related fields (e.g. from working with multilateral agencies or NGOs) and temporary residence or field work in emerging countries (e.g. China, Indonesia, India, Brazil) is a plus
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written); other languages are a plus

 

You master the following skills:

 

  •  Analytical and problem-solving personality 
  •  Enthusiasm and ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment
  •  Communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  •  Quantitative skills (data, modelling) 

 

The internship lasts 4 months starting in March or April 2021 and will be based in Zurich.
