The programme offers you the chance to join the dynamic, fast-moving world of a leading risk knowledge organisation. Over an 18-month period, you’ll receive on-and-off-the-job training, including a job rotation that gives you the opportunity to work across different business units.

About the Role
Are you aspiring to use your scientific background to increase society's resilience against natural catastrophes with the help of insurance? Do you want to work at the interface of science and commercial re/insurance products?
We enable Swiss Re to maintain and expand its leadership in natural catastrophe re/insurance and do so in close collaboration with underwriters and clients. You will engage in and ultimately lead projects to improve natural catastrophe (Nat Cat) risk assessment, collaborate with a wide range of internal and external teams on natural catastrophe related topics and develop novel insurance solutions to increase resilience against catastrophes.
Let us specify the responsibilities:
•    You will help to build, maintain and communicate the next generation of Nat Cat models and services for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
•    You advance our priority projects with a business mentality and ask the right questions to make sure we apply our risk view with maximum impact for the company.
•    You lead internal and external trainings and workshops on Nat Cat risk assessment.
•    You contribute to projects and project teams and will eventually lead them.
•    Over time, you establish yourself as a point of contact for Nat Cat related topics, especially regarding atmospheric and flood hazards.

About the Team
We are looking forward to welcoming a new team member to the EMEA catastrophe perils team that belongs to Swiss Re Institute's Natural Catastrophe, Cyber and Geo department. We take ownership for Swiss Re’s global Natural Catastrophe and Cyber risk assessment as well as all Geo capabilities, and related client services. On the Natural Catastrophe side we advance innovative probabilistic and proprietary modelling technology for earthquakes, atmospheric and flood hazards.

•    Analytical skills are your traits, while you don't lose track of the big picture.
•    You have strong presentation skills and excel in oral and written communication in English and like to explain sophisticated topics to non-experts. We value the knowledge of additional languages as a plus.
•    High motivation to become a re/insurance expert.
•    While you approach problems with curiosity and flexibility you are a fast learner and eager to take ownership.
•    High level of self-initiation and interest for interdisciplinary work.
•    Demonstrate curiosity and eagerness to scout for new scientific insights and create commercial value from them.
