About the Role

As the Product Owner, you will lead the dedicated development squad (2/3 FTEs) in building, running and continuously improving a data platform used for generating insights and creating data driven products from structured and unstructured data for business and strategic initiatives. The role involves strong collaboration with the client, the specialist Medical team, based in Ireland as well as the other Product Owners within the Actuarial Insights team. You will manage the product backlog, ensuring the appropriate prioritisation of activities to maximise business value delivered. The technological basis for your solutions is the strategic Palantir Foundry platform.

 

Dedicated to the Medical Data Insights product backlog, you will collaborate with multiple groups and be at the forefront of the product development. Responsibilities include:

  • Being directly accountable to the EVAG CEO for the delivery of tangible value from the Medical data in Stargate
  • Collaborating closely with the client to elaborate joint data objectives
  • Leading the team to develop advanced analytics and actionable insights on a large block of medical insurance business written in Ireland
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements to existing processes, prioritise and implement agreed actions (e.g. improve data pipeline, assist the team in migrating business applications off Microsoft Excel and onto the platform).
  • Directing, informing and prioritizing the order of work to maximize value within constraints of resource, strategy and compliance with an entrepreneurial attitude, fully aligning with the Data Insights product area
  • Ensuring the data and reporting capabilities are developed and maintained in step with the Corporate Solutions strategy
  • Co-create, prioritize and communicate product roadmaps and high-level squad backlogs using iterative techniques with feedback loops
  • Bringing transparency of the backlog and aligning squad members with all partners
  • Ensuring voice of the customer is heard and focused on by squad
  • Ensuring cooperation between squads and manage interdependencies and remove impediments and create an environment for people to excel
  • Supporting the squad to deliver on budget, to clear scope, with clear guidance on timelines with clear acceptance criteria

The Actuarial Insights team sits within the Underwriting Division of Corporate Solutions. We equip the Underwriting Community with world class analytics, models, processes, and skills to drive success in the market. It is a dynamic team based across a broad geographical area with a global reach.

 

About You

 

Are you a self-starter with a keen interest in new technology and motivated, energetic and enthusiastic about using technology to address business challenges? Can you bring new digital solutions and business processes to life through creation of the right culture and demeanour? Are you data driven and tech savvy having experience of agile working practices and understanding of the user journey?

 

  • Degree in related field or relevant experience of corporate insurance
  • Qualification as CSPO / PSPO or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge of agile working practices
  • Track-record in implementing business solutions in the area of data analytics and information visualisation.
  • In depth skills on various technologies needed for data science and data engineering.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python/PySpark, JavaScript, R or similar (at least one).
  • Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks/Spark.
  • Experience in building scalable data pipelines/data engineering.
  • Experienced in understanding customer needs, can demonstrate expertise in Risk & Data, strong business & financial acumen & strategic demeanour
  • Experienced communicator both written & verbal and strong partner management skills and able to influence in servant leadership style
